Well, over a year later, here's a massive overhaul of chapter 1. You may notice a LOT of changes, including a POV shift, plot differences, and yes, even Kat's name has changed. I learned recently that The Last Airbender has a water bender named Katara, and a water mage named Katerei sounds suspiciously similar, even though mine came first. But I took the opportunity to give her a name that's hopefully easier to pronounce.

I'd like to ask one of our friendly local moderators to delete the previous versions of chapters 1 and 2, but Avatara will probably insist that it stays put so he can compare them.

Also, does this count as my summer chron challenge entry?

Wowev! That was a lot different than how I remember the first chapter (though I don't remember it very well). I like it ^_^ Especially the description of the rift between worlds. How is it that you only recently learned about Katara? I've been teasing you about that for years o_O

It's really exciting that you're working on your novel! :D

Personally, I don't really like deleting old stories or posts, and I'm inclined to suspect you are correct about Avatara's desire to leave the previous stories up for comparison. I think, therefore, that I'll leave the matter up to him.

Maybe I haven't made as many Avatar jokes as I thought :\ I thought I had a waterbender joke in one of my GM stories (the one with the Avatar opening), but it looks like I edited it out. Or maybe it was a different story. & I'm too lazy to check my IRC logs to see if I've compared Katerei to Katara on there, at least when you were around. You know my logs don't even tell me who was in the channel at the time? It's only obvious if they said something :(

I vote for keeping the original first chapter drafts; but if Tyry opts to delete them, at least I have copies in my story archive :D
