Oh, was that a spambot? I couldn't tell what it was trying to say. So I tried to look at its profile, and that's when I discovered that I'm no longer permitted to view profiles. What's with that?

Members are not allowed to view profiles anymore as a side effect of disabling the ability to search the member list, which is supposed to prevent bot attacks...

Anyway, you can tell it was a spambot because we've been getting hit a lot by the same thing. They often copy a line from somebody else's post, but not always, and then they always include an invisible image linking to some site. I think it's more about search engine rank, rather than targeting us specifically.

If that's the case, they've done a wonderful job checking /robots.txt. (though I wish /forums wasn't disallowed; I'd rather use Google to search the forums, since the built-in search is rate-limited and doesn't seem to have any notion of relevance)
