Ignae, a mysterious character who is not easily found, due to him being partially covered by the wall, as well as standing in an impossible to reach spot.

Long ago, I took two screenshots of Ignae by standing in different locations, then I pieced them together and got 3/4 of his sprite. Now, I read in an older thread that you could change the sprites of your party members into other things. I wonder if it would somehow be possible to do this, but instead of change them to goats and etc, change them to Ignae. We have only seen part of his back. I assume that he has sprites for all directions as well as walking animations, but this can only be speculated at this point. I do not mean to put a work load on anybody, I'm simply wondering if it could even be possible to do it.

Sorry.

Which direction do you not have him facing? Selax actually did this a few years ago, here's the topic from that time: Link. The included image there (unfortunately you have to be logged into see it ;)) shows Ignae facing east. I don't think Selax still has that save file lying around, but if that's not the direction you were looking for he might be willing to do it again and upload the file. An interesting note is that his graphic is actually about identical to that of a ghost, only colored like fire.

Edit: Sorry, Seldane, I completely misunderstood your question. I thought you meant you had 3/4 of his sprites and needed him facing one direction. The short answer to your question is yes, it is possible :)

Yeah, Ignae's basically a fire ghost. ;) I believe he always faces north in-game though.

Very, very, very neat! That was absolutely not how I imagined Ignae to look! Such a mysterious character. Too bad he didn't have a bigger role in the game than he did. And I wonder if he truly is the last of his kind.

It is indeed rather odd how UrSylph and Ignae appear to be the last of their kind, while there are apparently plenty of undine and still a handful of seldane (even though a big deal is made of their small number), and it’s also weird that Ignae doesn’t even have a unique name. Those guys are almost certainly elements of what would have been Cythera 2 and 3, based on the third Prophecy of Neleneus, in particular:

Quote

Land and Sea shall part, the middle can not hold.
Air and Fire shall wreack havoc, and Night shall fall.

That screen-shot says Ignae has only 22 HP. That's pretty weak. The monster list said he has 100, right?

Why didn't I think of that? Shooting him with an arrow should probably make him hostile and thus move around. That way I could have seen his sprites. How can I be so forgetful?

This makes him alternate between facing north and south, however he seems to be unable to move over the unwalkable fire, so he doesn’t actually move.

Yeah, usually when I'm trying to do something like this in Cythera I get so frustrated I start blowing stuff up. :P

I've never had "fetch", so I do not know fully how it works. Is it possible to "fetch" the walls around him, or even the lava?

 How can you have played Cythera without getting fetch? Unfortunately, it doesn't work on terrain, so fetching walls and lava won’t work.

I've never found more than three, maybe four Sapphire books. I've always intended to try to find them all, but never gotten around to it.

I think I found maybe seven or eight before I looked up the rest, it’s well worth the search just for all the other cool stuff you run into when looking for them. :) It can be rather time consuming though… :\

I believe between Prusa and Selinus, you can get hints to the locations of all the Sapphire Books, without getting total spoilers.

As Buzzy said, you cannot Fetch the lava. However, you can Fetch stalagmites, which will allow you to get one space lower, & see Ignae's entire sprite.

Edit: You can get two spaces lower, actually.

Prusa gives hints? I know Anisa and Selinus do, although iirc I still couldn't find two of them without consulting Slayer's Guide. I suppose I might have been able to if I had been playing it now, but I was younger back then. ;)

Ahh, look, I've really typed Prusa instead of Anisa. Maybe I should take a break from transcribing! :x

I tried this today, and there are actually three stalagmites you can Fetch. Together, they allow you to move about four tiles closer. It's a pity Fetch doesn't work on floor tiles, else we could get rid of the lava and set Ignae free! :P
