Minor note on Scrolls and potions The results of some experimentation

I finally got around to experimenting somewhat (not much) with scrolls and potions.
Personally, I didn't find anything that I considered very interesting or surprising (except possibly a minor note on potions), but I thought I might as well discuss the results.
On scrolls:
Scrolls appear to be an item with a spell or skill byte assigned to it (i.e. the item is described by two bytes followed by a third which gives its function). The spell byte for the scroll item appears to correspond to the spell byte for the character (all of which I think I have found), which enables me to assign pretty much any spell or skill to an item. However, I think that only spells (such as death strike) which have an external effect will cause the scroll to do anything, although I have not checked this extensively. For example, using a Scroll of Thievery results in nothing happening. In theory, one could use a grimoire (spelling?) to learn skills from scrolls, but I don't think it'd be very efficient.
On potions:
Each potion appears to be a distinct item, as opposed to the setup used for scrolls. Thus, I don't believe that I can create any "new" potions.
Perhaps not much worth mentioning or not very interesting to most people, but I thought I might as well go ahead and share the results that I obtained.

Or what if there was a single byte that meant "compatible with Intel/OS X" and ta-da! Cythera X!
We wish, sadly.
(if that were the case every single classic game ever made would be compatible with OS X and my games folder on my newer laptop would be tripled or more )
Actually, every single classic app would be, so my apps folder would be quadrupled or something.

But why would we want them exorcised? Don't we like them?
My Cythera Boards characters:
Silverfish: 1.52ft/46.3cm Tall
Mitsos/Pirro: Canonically statted
Don't forget to write Cythera Chronicles!
