After having played Cythera, I had many questions about certain things. Questions I'm sure most of you have had as well. I figured I'd make a topic where we post these unanswered questions and maybe try to figure out if there's a way to solve them...or simply just conclude that it was a programming error or whatnot.
I had a bunch of questions, however I was foolish enough to not write any of them down...so...so far I only have two for now, but I plan on adding more to this post. Also of course, I'd like you all to join in and post any questions that haven't been mentioned.
Cythera's Unsolved Mysteries
mystery: Just what ever happened to Timon's sister Larisa and her unpleasant assistant guy Joppa?
you meet them at the ruins in the swamp, she says she's got to go home to Kosha to give her report.
From then on, every time you go to her house in Kosha, Timon says that she should have been there by now and that he hopes nothing has happened to her...
you just...never see her again.
how to solve?: perhaps you're supposed to ask around about her? I've already tried asking some people in Kosha about her, but I didn't get too into it...maybe there's certain key words??? *mind boggling*
mystery: How do you solve that freakin wine contract mission! Apis suckers you into helping her out with her wine contract. You're supposed to ask any vineyard owners to sign the contract...of course there are only two vineyards (that I know of) in Cythera. One, The Southland Vineyard, belongs to Borus and he's already promised all his stock to Cademia (I think it's Cademia) so he wont sign. The other, The North Shore Vineyard, belongs to Glaucus, and all his stock is ruined by some mysterious means (which eventually you find out) so he won't sign, all he does is mope about his wine.
how to solve?: Ok so near the end of the game you help Charax figure out how to cleanse the crystal with the mushroom and the kelp or whatever....I already forget the details...anyway, I believe that you indeed solve the mystery of the wine...the only problem is (as Charax states) that it won't help the wine because "you cant move the distiller without spilling it"....so....perhaps you're to bring his wine to the distiller? or tell him to buy one or something. You end up with two pieces of kelp. You use one for the crystal and are left with one...perhaps with another mushroom you can use this on the wine? But where to find another mushroom? maybe there's a way to get another one in the game but you have a spell that can make replicas! (and we know the special way of being able to replicate anything that may be "too heavy" so it should be a piece of cake)...Ok so you get your extra kelp and mushroom...but now what?
It would make sense to me that if you fix Glaucus's wine, he'll be more than willing to sign your contract...the only problem is figuring out how to fix it...we already kind of have an idea of what we need to fix it...it's just about how to do it.
Or perhaps I'm thinking way too deep about it all...
Regardless, I've started a second game and when I get to that part I'm going to see what I can do...
Of course...these may have well been unfinished parts of the game...but dammit why the hell would they be so mean! they're making you pay $25 for an unfinished product that only leaves you with unanswered questions! Surely they realize that there are people (like me!) who may think too deeply on certain things and need everything to be answered. I'm the kind of person who checks every freakin nook and cranny in games just in case something might be hiding there. A long time ago when I first played this game, after discovering the secret walls in Landking Hall and in Omen's test, I checked EVERY single freakin wall!
anyway...ok my rant is over, and now some random thoughts...
Random thoughts...
- What happens if you give Alaric the crystal before it is cleansed? I was stupid enough to save after I had already cleansed it. I wonder if it's possible to use the bad crystal on him like Omen wanted you to...will it kill him? or maybe the crystal will just glow faintly but nothing happens
I'm going to try it on my second game...
[please feel free to reply with any questions or potential solutions...this could be fun or infuriating ]
