AHA! a reason to drag my attention to what looked like a Tsless storyless board!

now on topic..... 1: NO! no god-damned time-travelling alternate universe s### at all! it wont be stood for. go post on another board!
The reasons for this outburst, it fails every time a writer uses it (for the most part) and its soooo over used.

2: The Rat lizard idea is amusing although not sure if its Ts material.

3: There's a place where all that fetched s### goes? omg! it must be full by now, all the objects in cademia gone..... hehehehehe

4: The Tree of life idea is great! works well sounds interesting, and generally would be a good idea, I would join in :P.

5: whadda bout a interesting siege of cademia? ruffians attack cytherans defend agaisnt the odds. (no death king should be involved...in my opinion)
so that means trenches and proper defenses! HURAH FOR SIEGE WARFARE!

6: If we are to once again have a ts running, it would be nice if people keep themselves to one character. not two even if it is a companion! (I find it incredibly irritating remembering 50 different names and trying to piece together whats happening. nice to have one person one name)
Also a Ts runs more smoothly when we are generally in one place. well in the area at least eg.... the party splits, one attacks whilst the other flanks...thats fine.
but things like.... The party is five people in one place with a random battle between a character and a villain completely out of the story duke it out in another world. that just doesnt seem to work so well in my opinion.

7: dont ask me for examples of situations......(im way to lazy to find them)

8: Thats all for now....i shall return.

*Gasp* Valy! You're alive! I'm not an authority over who gets to vote, but I surely think TSs have quite a lot more life in them when you're around ^_^

I'd vote you get a vote in the vote on the TS too, although I'd vote against you getting a vote in the vote on your voting rights.

It's Rythan! I haven't seen you in ages! How surprising to see you suddenly come back. I hope you'll stick around for the next TS.

My current vote is going with Visitor's suggestion of the Tree of Life quest. That could be fun.

And Pippin: Don't worry. It's pretty much been decided that this next TS will not have anything to do with an alternate universe plot. The next one is supposed to be Cythera related, which is why I'm supporting the Tree of Life idea. That said, it's good to see you around as well. :P

I support the Tree of Life idea, but it sounds to me like the type of TS in which we may want to do a bit of plot-planning ahead of time?

Good to see you around again, Ragnar0k. I vote you get to vote if you participate.

Pippin:
1. I think that you misunderstand me. By Alternate Universe, I mean non-canon, out of the continuity, etc. (not mirror universe). I think that most people will not want such a TS because of all the push just to get a continuity.
As for time travel and the mirror universe idea, one has not been used much and the other has not been used at all in Cythera. Thus, they give some people more chances to do new things with their characters and to use new situations; however, the next TS will most likely be neither of these.
5. Something like that has already been done (in Tavern's 3 and 4, I believe) with an undead army attacking Cademia. Most people do not appear to enjoy big army TSs, so they are rarely done.

(Please, in future, do not use so much profanity. For one thing, this is a board visited by children and should be kept relatively clean.)

Hmmm, although i would not myself call it profanity, as it is commonly used i will keep any out of OOC messages. but it does not include In character messages as I find that profanity is a part of english and can be used properly.... anyway enough of that.

The idea of a seige warfare is that it doesnt have to be a large army, more like a strike force.

But still the tree of life idea takes the cake and probly will incite the most posts and intrest.

The question is: how would one use the Tree of Life plot?

We could go Indiana Jones and try to make some cash (or donate it to the Phynx museum), we could make it so that we need the fruit to save a life, or we can have an evil wanting the tree for imortallity or something along that line and we have to stop it... any other suggestions?

EDIT: just thought of this. :P We can go Jurrasic park 2 and have a rich scientist to old to make the journey so he hires a team of experts ( adventurers) to go for him. On the team could be an indiana jones, a brave sould trying to save a life, and a hired hand by the enemy, ect. That might be a little extreme though...

Many of us, I think, are interested in the Tree of Life because it's something new in a game we thought we had played near to death. But I wonder if this concept is interesting to people who haven't actually played this game (at least two members who have been quite productive in recent TSs haven't played it)? And I'm not sure if our beloved moderator is even aware of this discovery yet, as he wasn't yesterday. :P

Did my Tree look like that? (The problem with that game is it's hard to get a good look at things! But sometimes it would get lighter, like it was daytime or something, and then it would be easier.) Because that's a rather scary-looking tree. @_@

I think she knows. Recently, she tried her first ever battlenet game (and I would guess her first Warcraft game) with Avatara. By the way, 453, the game does simulate day and night.

Now, back on subject...

Who would be willing to participate and when would it be convenient to start a TS?

Since people are starting school and relatively few are about right now, it might be good to wait a while. For myself, I shall most likely be quite busy in September. It is possible that I might be able to be more active during this period than I was last May though.

I already started schooling, and I won't be at home on Mondays and Wensdays. There's also tons of home work and studying, but I still check the forums daily. ;) Oh yeah, I'd be willing to participate, though this will be the first one for me. So I don't know how well I'll do. :P

I'd prefer to have at least 7 or 8 people planning to join. (Ordinarily, I might settle for 5 or 6, but, given the recent lack of activity, I'd prefer more.)

In addition, I'd feel more inclined to start if the Tavern were more active. That would give me some activity to start off and a means to better gauge the activity level of a possible TS.

If you wish, Two Jacks, you could create your character and join the Tavern. It's a good place to introduce a character and is where almost all TSs start from. It'd be a good place for you to experiment with your character and writing him or her as well.

I think I could manage a short post, at least once a month... I guess that rates me as "unavailable"

Silverfish: 1.52ft/46.3cm Tall
Mitsos/Pirro: Canonically statted
Don't forget to write Cythera Chronicles!

Does anyone really care how the "Tree of Life" plot gets started? The begining is already tstarting to unfold in the tavern (crypticly). It would proally be in the TS's best interest to plan ahead before going through with anything, and if there actually is at least a skeletal base line we could probally raise the post count dramaticly. Right now I feel we're in a stalemate, no one knows if what they say will be received with cheers, so no one does anything hoping some one else will start it up. Also what's with the fluctuation of posting levels?

Yeah, I made a cryptic mention of the Tree in a Tavern post so my character won't be completely out of the loop when the story starts, but I'm not actually going to make a move until Selax does. The quest for the Tree of Life has not yet started; Shanadar's encounter with Anisa at the Eatery merely substantiates the quest once it is initiated, but not before.

Your post however, Two Jacks, is somewhat less ethereal. It has the substance of plot, not merely back-ground, as has the potential to add some macabre underpinnings to the TS once it starts, if you so desire. In any case, your character is certainly getting involved with some clandestine activity for sure.

As for the fluctuating post levels, its mostly just each of us waiting for the other. I, myself, am waiting for one of the elder members to post, or at least Selax. Others may be absent, and others still may be waiting on someone else. I have nothing to post until I have an event to base off of (If you could get Shanadar's attention somehow, Two Jacks, I would be inclined to reply, although I don't think that would solve our current dilemma).

Base plot: Finding the Tree of Life. (Not the cereal)
Characters: Probally one for every person.
Advanced plot: We need something to drive the plot onward, something we need to decide. I think the plot should go a little beyound the Tree of life, well I guess it will anyways since we'll need a conclusion to the TS.
Advanced Characters: Everyone should (not a must) have their own unique tie-in to the plot, just so everyone isn't the ho-hardy adventurer.

Am I on the right track? The silver box my character has defanitly ties into the Tree of Life plot, something I'll let everyone in on later, however don't forget no has seen it but him yet. :P

Avatara: Anyone could start the topic but I feel no one want rejection of their idea. For instance: A man walks in the tavern walks in the tavern, his jacket is darkened and after stareing for a little you can see the blood dripping off his close. The bar maid rushes to help him, but as he falls to the ground you faintly hear him whisper, "The tree- the tree of life!". [END SCENE] Now this could lead to the man getting better and explaining the tree or he could die and people would look for his murderer and find out more about the tree. Basicly, anything goes! But everyone should agree with how it happens, well at least the majority.

I'd still prefer to have more people. As of now, the only ones that come to mind are Two Jacks, Pippin3, ~vIsitor~, myself (I hope—but my weekend class starts this Friday), Wizard (I don't know about him, but I hope at least sporadically), and maybe Jehezekel (occasionally?).

In addition, I'm not quite certain which character to consider using in this one. Selax might be unavailable and might be better off that way for this TS. Rapierian would be hard to integrate and has been a bit two-dimensional lately.

Of course, a plot or at least some kind of idea about what is meant to happen would help too.

Two Jacks, if your character, the box, and the person that he's supposed to meet are open-ended (i.e. someone else can fill in who he is supposed to meet), I might be able to do something with that. (By the way, you probably should post a brief description of your character in the Character Info topic.)

By the way, the current tavern might run a bit above 200 posts, and I'll cut it off after the story gets underway. Otherwise some people's tie-in arcs might get lost if people have to look in two different topics. So don't be alarmed if you see a "201" in a few days.

Not just yet I need the story to move along more before I finish the "meet pick-up" part, and the box will come in later as well. Yes you've told me before, sorry. I want people to create their own image of my character in their mind, I'll post a brief characteristic here and there but I want it to be like when your reading a book. You know what I mean?
