xchat has an option to auto-pass when you first sign in, and you can put the command in the User Menu.
there might be something even easier, in which case if someone will say...

It does annoy me how, once I've identified, MemoServ messages me to say I don't have messages, though.
[edit]To be clear, it does let you decide whether or not to be notified in general, but it doesn't let you base the decision on whether or not you have messages[/edit]
