In case you missed it, Ben Adams has posted a notice on the banter about the state of the IRC server. In short, it'll be down until Monday.

Why until the plumber fixes the shower? Is that some sort of secret code or something?

Hmm, this will make ending the TS more difficult (although I doubt it'll end before Monday).

Anyone around who can host SEE over the weekend? :P

As an alternative, you could try using AIM. :P

Personally, I think IRC kills TSs.

i'm reminded of many a 'who's posting next?' 'i don't know, you post' 'no you post' endless situation on IRC... which i have been known to solve by 'OKAY SHUTTUP I'M POSTING.' :P

As many of you have figured out, the IRC channel is back online.

I registered too. But the password protection thing is so annoying I'm wondering why I bothered.

You could de-register it! :P
xchat has an option to auto-pass when you first sign in, and you can put the command in the User Menu.
there might be something even easier, in which case if someone will say...

Most clients will (somewhere or other) let you put in a command to run on connecting, for which you should enter "/msg NickServ identify <password>". Some clients will additionally have special support for NickServ, but I've never had the best of luck with it.

It does annoy me how, once I've identified, MemoServ messages me to say I don't have messages, though.

[edit]To be clear, it does let you decide whether or not to be notified in general, but it doesn't let you base the decision on whether or not you have messages[/edit]

Thanks Jehezekel, I'll try it next time I go on.
