SO I was going through Cythera as a Bard, and realized that you can play music, but Demosocus wont teach you, and says somthing to the effect of "It would take years to learn". SO how does the main chracter inniatly get the ability to play? Also I have not found a music skill and was not sure if one existed, just curious.

I don't think one exists. To play music, just find a musical instrument, and use it, and you can pluck random strings or blow in tubes of panpipes.

Musical instrument quasi-spoiler hint...

Spoiler

So you can play music without actually learning it. Even if there were a music skill, it would probably be useless, like, for example, fishing.

Unless, of course, you could charm the scylla into following you into Land's End Volcano, where they would go to their doom and perish in the flames! Bwahahahahaha!!

And the winner of the text only entry goes to CrazyChick for "Watch for B&B on bridge." Encountering the B&B anywhere is dangerous enough. Throwing a bridge into the recipe is an equation for disaster. - Ragashingo

right then, just checking. It just seemed off that the strings would be so convinantly(sic) ordered. unlike the bells under Cademia. that was confusing.
In Pnyx (mage pyramid, does that make it a scam?), is there a spell for the opening of the gate which leads down? I ask
Spoiler
, I didn't know if that was a glitch with the map, or what. Are the mages covering it or is Omen's map flawed? Has anyone else encounered this?

There is a way to open the gate...

I believe Cademia has a similar automap feature.

hmm, well the blacked out area makes sense if you haven't been there, but why once you have been there? It seems so odd, are ther any others. Pynx, Cademia, if this is not a glitch whay have it WHY? In cademia when you are in the room you can see it on Omen's map, but Pnyx never shows up. I am slightly perturbed :P . HMMmmm. clearly not somthing urgent.

I always just assumed it was a magical prevention.

There is a way of pulling the lever, it's complicated, and very well hidden. If you can figure it out on your own, you are a genius. If you can't there's always Slayer's Guide.

I worked it out by myself. (Accidentally, actually, but hey, does that matter?)

Congratulations. You are now an official accidental genius. Feel free to print business cards. As an accidental genius, it is your duty to have accidents. Lots of them. And they had better be productive. Or you're fired.

Hehe. Most of my brighter moments are accidents. I finished the game accidentally.

I can't immediately recall how I got through that part, accidentally or intentionally, although I am fairly certain I didn't use a guide.

Well, well, well, I think you are all missing the point. All of these things is neither here nor there. I question the deeper reason for Cythera, the guy (or girl), is just in a halucination. In the beginning you wake up and are perturbed by the heat, and watch TV, then are unabe to sleep. I suspect that in reality you never wake up but you are dreaming. I have some weird dreams when I fall asleep in front of the TV. Just sayin'.

That's a possibility, although I personally think that the opening character's unsettlement is due to either some premonition or to Alaric and Magpie. Still, it's an interesting idea.

It's the spores from shrooms, carried on the wings of the approaching storm.

I played Cythera again today. first time in over a year. It runs better in os9.0.4 on a G3 PowerBook than in os7.3.5 on a Performa 575! ^_^
It only crashed once, because I forgot to up its memory allotment!

Thinking about it, I'm inclined to agree; that would seem the most logical reason.

On an unrelated note, did anyone else ever try to use the green crystal ball to see into that building in Cademia? Did something really weird (such as doors and some roofs, perhaps some other things, disappearing) happen to the city when you did?

I'll try that when I have time, though most likely it will be black, grass, or most of all likely, white. I'm not being a pessimist, though!

It happened to me, but I couldn't see anything in the building and gave up.

I caught a glimpse of the objects inside it, but it always remained black on the map.

What was in it?

And why in the world is there a TV in the intro, and where is it in your room?

Because te hero of the game is ripped from his/her own (modern) world into the world of Cythera by Alaric and Bahoudin.
