Strange considering that Windows XP is just Windows NT 2.0, Did you know that Windows has been competing with itself all along? 95 vs NT, 98 Vs NT, Me Vs 2000.
Now the boring and annoying windows has won and made XP. THus XP HE Vs XP PE.

######ing disaster.

NT was a server/workstation OS, and very solid. But it wouldn't play Descent with sound.

9x/ME was a home os. It only crashed every ten minutes. ME even bluescreened while Bill Gates was demonstrating it. "And... uh oh."

They weren't meant to conflict, because they were meant for two different markets.

Win2k = NT 5. XP = NT 5.1. XP Home = pathetic, and missing everything that made NT worth running (NTFS, multiprocessor support...).

WinXP = Win2000 1.1
Win2000 = Win98 1.1
Win98 = Win95 1.0
Win95 = Win3.1
Win3.1 = Win3.0
Win3.0 = Win2.1
Win2.1 = Win2.0
Win2.0 = Win1.0
Win1.0 = MSDOS
MSDOS = DOS
DOS = might as well be Xenix.

Oops, forgot the NT's.

ME doesn't qualify, because no operating system shoud manage to crash itself within fifteen seconds of startup.

DOS was the best, there were truly some classic DOS games back in 1990.

DOS was awesome... But Microsoft didn't make it. They owned the rights to it. DOS was the fruit of someone else's labor. Of course, they modified it into MSDOS.

There were some kickass DOS games in 1994, too. Look at Star Control 2. There's even a MacOSX/Linux/Windows port up somewhere called The Ur-Quan Masters.

Windows 2000 was, and still is, the peak of Microsoft operating systems. Everything from ME back is rubbish and, while XP is more lovable than 2000, it isn't quite as quick and dirty.

2000 was definitely the best, but it still gives me problems sometimes.

Windows 2000 annoys me to no end. I can at least tolerate XP enough to use it on a daily basis if I need to.

What are you, the computer police? Am I under arrest for the building of an illegal PC gaming machine? It's got Ubuntu on it, I swear.

Well, I have a live CD anyway.

Umm... you're going to have to arrest me, too, because I have a P III/500 with Debian on it. At least it has a legal copy of Basilisk...

Why get Linux when I can just run Unix?

Besides, like it or not, the corporate world runs Windows, and I can't do anything to change that.

A decent copy of ME will run anything (made for windows) (except Theme Park). S3 wont run on Xp because windows XP is gayer than a bag full of monkeys.
