I have three in-use light bulbs in my room: two in the overhead and one in a lamp. About two months ago, one of the overhead bulbs burned out, so I put my lamp in active duty. When the lamp is turned towards the ceiling, it provides quite a bit of light, so it didn't really make much difference. Unfortunately, the lamp bulb burned out two nights ago, leaving only the one overhead bulb.

Things are getting dire. I may have to learn how to utilize sonar.

If you cover portions of your unused carpet with lots of hand soap (liquid hand soap) and/or soak it in some rubbing alcohol, you could light part of your room on fire. It'll burn like napalm for a while.

Keep your computer on, and use the monitor.

A while back, I decided that there was no particular reason to have six 60 watt lightbulbs above the mirror in my bathroom, so I deactivated three of the six light sockets and replaced the remaining three bulbs with 40 watt bulbs. It's still too friggen bright in there, but at least I no longer scorch my corneas every time I have to stumble in there in the middle of the night. I have dimmer switches on all the other lights that beat 25 watts in my realm of the house and keep the place about as dark as it would be if I were using candles instead of electricity to light the place.

I bought six of those "ultra-efficient-super-long-life-bulbs" when I arrived for college. I figured that their five-year lifespan would be perfect for a four-year college degree. Alas, only three are still operational.

... am I the only one here who is going to suggest spending a couple of bucks and replacing the bulbs, or is that too sensible ;p

I could do with some more lighting in here, really... I should grab some LEDs and experiment.

I was going to suggest that as well...

I thought about it, then I remembered what board this is.

After the first one burned out, I went out to my garage to see if we had any spare bulbs, but there weren't any properly-shaped ones. After that I got discouraged and totally lost my momentum.

I rarely have my light on (only if I am reading at night) other wise I just use the computer. My curtains are always closed, unless my grandma opens them while I am at school.

Works for me.

You could always rig a large system of mirrors so even a little light will brighten your room. That costs more than two light bulbs, though......

If you tie a rope around the sun, you could keep it on a leash so it never sets.

I went into my living room and pilfered the light bulb out of one of the lamps that never get used. Thus, the problem is temporarily remidied.
