He doesn't need to. As previously mentioned there are ways around this.

I obviously don't know what functions Mods have on these boards, but from what I think they can do, SA could simply slice one of Vec's posts from one topic, and used it to start a new one. Or he could have started a topic, sliced one of Vec's posts onto it, then deleted his original post. Then obviously editing Vec's post accordingly. I'm sure there are other ways to do that, but this is the one I know the mods can do.

Yep, and (if permissions allow,) mods can edit a member's post without it showing up as being edited.
