I have to write about a life altering experience that I had in the wilderness. It took eight pages in my composition book...But it's a short story.

I may have to do my homework on the bus on Monday... Yesterday I woke up so late that it was time to go out with my friends by the time I had eaten, showered etc. (3:15) and I didn't get home until 11, and today is Super Bowl Sunday, and my team, Eagles, is playing, so I have 0 homework motivation. Teachers never check homework anyway.... I don't know why I do it...

I have a 30 minute bus ride. I can make any amount of work fit into that slot...... and if I can't, I have first block, then second block, third block, and lunch.

I on occasion, can get six subjects worth of work. On those days, I like to get depressed. :P

Speaking of homework, today marked the first big exam in my Volcanology course, so about ten minutes prior to the conclusion of my Statistical Analysis class, I decided that I should probably do a little studying before the test so I broke out and skimmed my notes. On the walk to Volcanology, I considered the chemical makeups of Olivine, Pyroxene, Garnet, Peridotite, and Plagioclase (the only ones we had to know), the phase shifts between Olivine, B-Phase, y-Spinel, and Magnesiowustite + Perovskite, along with the Pyroxene-garnet componet phase shifts from Pyroxene + Garnet to Garnet-majoite, llmenite, and straight Perovskite. Upon arriving in the class I quickly went over the differences between Tholeiitic, Andesitic, and Alkaline Basalts and their relative abundance in MORB as compared to Arc magmas so I would have time to finish reading the Opinions page in the newspaper before class began. I finished the two short essay, three short answer, and twenty multiple choice questions before everyone else except for one guy who turned his test in at the same time I did and, according to the just updated online grade sheet, received a perfect score for my fifteen minutes worth of studying. School is cake.

*idly considers smothering Pufer with her pile of marking, decides it would take too much effort*

Pah. I have three more assignments to finish (and/or start) of my five that are due this week, plus fourteen more stories to mark by some time last week...

But for all of your viewing pleasure, I present a haiku:

(This is part of one of my assignments...that would be one of the good things about teacher-school.)

I believe that µ is alluding to a tessomancy lesson in the third Harry Potter book, in which Ron reads Harry's tea leaves to mean "You're going to suffer - but you'll be happy about it?"

The bulk of my writings have been derivative/fan-fiction work, usually based on characters in our RPGs. I have a bunch of Trek stories, then a whole boatload of unfinished 'origin' stories, which are generally started to give me a feeling for a character or scenario, and are rarely finished. (Additionally, it's rare that I outline or fully plot such stories, and just write until I can't take it any further.)

I've done play-by-email RPGs and occasionally joked that the characters are writing their own scenes.

I suppose you could consider the work I did on a text-based RPG (Modus Operandi) as creative writing; that's the only time I was 'paid' for my work.

Hmm, I suppose most of my writing is really for school, but I have an über cool English teacher this year, so I barely have any "homework" persay, but instead do a lot of writing.

Outside I do write quite a bit. For the heck of it I wrote a couple 20-40 page stories that I was able to turn into extra credit for my biology class.

Right now most of my out-of-school writing are landing descs for Genesis as I work on the map for it.

EDIT: I almost forgot. I do a lot of writing for a Model Parliament I participate in. I've already drafted several bills, and numerous amendments, and become quite fluent in legalese.

What degree are you going for currently?

Education. Bachelor's, that is. Hence "teacher-school," as I am currently in school learning to be a teacher. :P

I got that, I was just curious about what level of education you were getting a degree in (that is if they do, in fact, make the distinction between ECME, Elementary, and Secondary Ed specific degree and licensure programs up there in the frosty north).

Of course, down here you'd likely be getting your BS Education degree instead of a BEd. I'm not sure which one is easier to make fun of. ;)

Ah, okay. Got it. I was obviously slow last night. :P

In that case -- Middle Years (I'm doing my teaching practicum in a grade 6-8 middle school). The neat thing is, though, that because most districts around here don't have middle schools, the degree will likely allow me to be hired up and down from the 6-8 grade bracket.

Heh. I'd rather have a degree in BEd than a BS degree... ;)

Well, since you're off topic now, I think I'll join in.

I'm currently a sophmore in high-school, so I got a little while before College. I'm probably gonna go into Engineering.

DE and Swithich: Congratulations! I'm already an engineering student, and you have chosen the coolest profession to decide to major in.

Now on the topic, I also have done quite a bit of creative writing. Last year in school I took a creative writing course where I had to write upwards of thirty poems, ten short stories, and two somewhat longer stories. On the second longer story, I worked with another student, and we made our papers into one longer story; i.e. he wrote the main story, and I wrote the prequel.

Very, very interesting stuff, indeed.
