The taste of beer grows on you. I couldn't stand the stuff for a long time, but I can drink it now. I still prefer cocktails and mixers however.

Mmm, wine...

I've kinda been trying to avoid posting in this topic because I knew what it would turn into...

So, here's my 2 cents.

I don't touch drugs, and I don't smoke. I consider both to be extremelly dangerous. I don't need drugs to have a good time, and neither do I need to smoke to calm myself down. I consider the disadvantage of these to outweigh the advantage.

Now, alcohol on the other hand, is different.

I do drink, and I don't really have a problem with that. I will go out drinking maybe once or twice a month, so it's hardly a habit. Now, after saying what I say about drugs and cigs, why drink...

Well, I'm not entirely sure to be honest.

I just find that drinking with friends is a good way to spend an evening. I don't go out with the intention of waking up in a ditch somewhere, swiming in a pool of my own vomit, I go out with the intention of having a good time. If I feel I've drunk too much, I'll stop. Simple as.

Now I know I don't need to drink to have fun, it doesn't make me loosen up, I don't feel the need for dutch courage to chat to girls etc (not that I actually do that anway) and I've had many a night where I have stayed sober because I'm working driving etc...

I guess I just enjoy it. I'm not hurting anyone, I'm not destroyer my body by drinking in excess and making myself ill, I'm not going out drinking in parks and starting fights etc. I'm just going out, and having fun.

So yeah, my advice to people is this. If you don't want to try drinking, then don't. Don't feel you have to or indeed you are 'destined' to, if you don't want to, then don't.

Simple.

And those of us who drink/smoke/do drugs fine, don't go saying other people have to do it also, and please don't force it upon them...

-H

P.s. sorry, that was a ramble...

What subject? Is that like a topic? Because I agree that we have thoroughly sidetracked and mercilessly beat the topic to death.

*performs CPR on the topic*

I really have no real opinion on sXe. Possibly because I have no idea if it even exists around here. Either I'm really out of touch with high schoolers (despite my sister still being one), or it's not really a big deal 'roundabouts.
