Does anyone else really dislike the new forums? One of the reasons I fell in love with the old boards (or got addicted to them; whatever) was for their simplicity. Everything was easy and it was quite attractive. Now it's ugly, bright, and complicated. It has functions and setting coming out of its arse. Commodore Antilles and I both agree that the UBB boards were a hell of a lot better than these.

Anyone else feel the same way?

EDIT: Also, how long have these boards been up? I've been checking back several times a day for the last two weeks, but I wasn't directed here until early this morning. However, it appears that people have been posting for quite a few days.

Understand that these boards are incomplete... they need new color schemes and such. I think we should wait until they're done before we start judging them.

But as of right now, yes, I kinda miss the old ones. But probably just because I'm not used to these yet.

Well, I think it will take some getting use to, but we'll see. I miss the old colors though (ATT use to be so dark...and evil).
The only things I have to fear are my enemies. My enemies are The Flu, Halliburton, Volcanoes, The Mainstream Media, Democrats, Black Holes, Michael Moore, Al Franken, Bill Clinton (aka Mista Clinto), Al Gore, Iraqi Insurgents, PETA, Computer Viruses, Canada, John Kerry, Spam, Howard Dean, Liberals, S.O.C.A.S., Protesters, Brush Fires, Pirates, Hamas, Airline Terrorists, North Koreans, Hurricanes, Monkey Pox, Wasps, Hillary Clinton, France, SARS, Syria, and the Divals Imperium.

Running the UBB system seems like it would've been a nightmare, though, to me. I mean, there's no need for the boards to be quite as advanced as they are now, but they needed to be brought up-to-date in some fundamental ways (mainly, a database-oriented solution).

Though there are some pointless new features, there are a bunch of spiffy ones as well - like the ability to minimize forums, and the "Fast Reply" button.

I've tried getting used to boards remarkably similar to these, and I could never get used to them. It's not just the color scheme, it's the way things work. The old boards were so simple and organized. I'm sure I'll get used to them in a few days. The reason I could never get used to other boards was because I had a much better board to go to.

My only real complaints about the new one are that:
1) Account Settings is badly organized
2) The white and blue is annoying

...but the latter will be fixed soon enough.

It has a bit of trouble loading sometimes. It's pretty slow. And your right the color scheme blows.

Yeah, new board sucks, I want te old one back. If they do fix it, I hope it becomes all grey and black like before. For now, I'll just turn my brightness waaaaaaaaaay down.

I actually enjoyed the original white/blue color scheme. Now its been altered slightly and darkened (tom is playing with skin options so he can set up a more asw-like skin) and it does currently look ugly. As does purple for poll topic icons. And the smileys.

Nothing really bothers me about them. I like these colors a bit better then the old ones.

I'm not a fan of :P either, which is my other high-frequency smiley (aside from :/, which isn't a graphical smiley anyway)

Have you tried searching? I can search every topic on every forum for the word "slow" in less than 45 seconds. Under the UBB's HTML pages, that'd take many many minutes.

Well, in the sense of one eye open and one eye closed, it kind of matches. On the other hand, the idea of a wink is that you just said something funny/not serious, whereas the current version looks far more like you just ate something you probably shouldn't have.

It can be used as a primitive weapon to deal 1d4 -1 damage to unsuspecting people.

Since it's a natural weapon, size modifiers are of course used to determine weapon speed.

The new smilies are really teh sukc. I want the old ones back. I'd even be willing to draw new ones to expand the set...

My main beef with the new system is the fact that it is no longer integrated into the rest of the Ambrosia website.

That's andrew's main beef as well, it won't be that way for long.
