Ambrosia Software Web Board: ARES cheats - Ambrosia Software Web Board

I have discovered that there are at least 4 cheats to ARES.
==gronk in net games, this enables cheats. both players have to type this to start cheating.
==1999 increases your rate of pay by 12.5 percent
==lotto money (duh)
==fsst Makes your ships build instantly.

I know that there are more, but I don't know what they are.
could someone tell me plz?

P.S. could someone also tell me how to rename your planet? I KNOW it can be done.

I think I've said this about five times and nobody has listened to me.
Simply go into the Ares string resource with ResEdit.
There is a string called "cheats" or something like that.
Label the first field "1," second field "2," up to the
eighth field "8."

Now go in the game. The hexidecimal stuff garbles up the codes,
but it is still relatively easy.
I think i GOT what th cheacts do a little mixed up:
1 = Incease pay rate
2 = Decrease " "
3 = Something or other
0 = Instant Build
/ = Something or other } Keypad
* = Something or other } |
. = $$$ } |
- = ??? } |
+ = ??? }

If you want to rename the cheats on your computer, email me ( [url="http://"mailto:tseng@blueneptune.com"]mailto:tseng@blueneptune.com[/url]tseng@blueneptune.com ) 8 lines of text (in the same order as the cheats above) and your email address with Ares Cheats in the subject title and I'll send you an rsrc file containing a string resource to paste into Ares. They will work in a net game with someone who has a different cheat set. I did it to my copy and it works fine.

My email will queue up on the weekends until the next workday, and I check my email at roughly six-o'clock every workday, so I may take a little while to respond.

Sorry if this post is either big or hard to understand, I've never been good at using forums and Bulletin-Boards.

If you want to do it yourself, just make your cheats, paste them in order into the STR# resource in ResEdit, and add 5 to the ASCII value of each character (except the length-bytes!!).
