The structure of "Pretty Soon, I Don't Know What, But Something Is Going To Happen" by Norma Jean reminds me of me and the lyrics are synonomous with one of my personal philosophies.
Time can kill the greatest of men. Even the strongest find themselves on the floor. It doesn't have to be this way. Time keeps moving on and on. Fragile time cannot waste away. Fragile time can't be laid to rest. Fragile time can lead you to the grave. Fragile time starts eternity. It kills their walk. I watch them wash away. It's all worthwhile. Time goes on.
"Suckerpunch" by Five Iron Frenzy describes my past. I was picked on because of the way I dressed and had no friends in junior high.
Coke bottle glasses,
I'm sitting in the corner with my finger up my nose,
And my shoelaces untied again,
Another day of school with no friends.
A social outcast,
Two grades ahead in math,
with my highwater pants,
Giving meaning to pencil-necked-geek,
A dork or so to speak, tongue-in-cheek.
They're all sucker-punching me,
Get in line for a wedgie.
All I want and all I need,
Is someone who believes in me.
A song sung for underdogs,
for all the left out.
A flag flying for losers,
somewhere in the Heavens.
The God of ever-lasting comfort,
believed in me,
Loved me when I was faithless,
he still died for me.
Junior High schooler
With pencils in my pockets,
and my Trapper Keeper busted,
Spilling papers and books on the floor,
Not wanting seventh grade anymore.
Another class-clown,
Acting like a goof to be accepted by my peers,
Giving meaning to pencil-necked-geek,
a dork or so to speak, tongue in cheek.
They're all sucker-punching me,
Get in line for a wedgie.
All I want and all I need,
Is someone who believes in me.
A song sung for underdogs,
for all the left out.
A flag flying for losers,
somewhere in the Heavens.
The God of ever-lasting comfort,
believed in me,
Loved me when I was faithless,
he still died for me.
"Call And Answer" by Barenaked Ladies describes how I feel for all of my friends and how they treat me sometimes.
I think it’s getting to the point
Where I can be myself again
I think it’s getting to the point
Where we have almost made amends
I think it’s the getting to the point
That is the hardest part.
And if you call, I will answer
And if you fall, I’ll pick you up
And if you court this disaster
I’ll point you home
You think I only think about you
When we’re both in the same room
You think I’m only here to witness
The remains of love exhumed
You think we’re here to play
A game of who loves more than whom
And if you call, I will answer
And if you fall, I’ll pick you up
And if you court this disaster
I’ll point you home
You think it’s only fair to do what’s
Best for you and you alone
You think it’s only fair to do the same
To me when you’re not home
I think it’s time to make this something that is
More than only fair
So if you call, I will answer
And if you fall, I’ll pick you up
And if you court this disaster
I’ll point you home.
But I’m warning you, don’t ever do
Those crazy, messed up things that you do
If you ever do
I promise you I’ll be the first to crucity you
Now it’s time to prove that you’ve come back
Here to rebuild.
"Come What May" from Moulin Rouge describes my feelings for my very best friends (especially my second girlfriend who pulled me out of a two and a half month pit of depression during the summer and my last girlfriend who just broke up with me two days ago).
Never knew I could feel like this
Like I’ve never seen the sky before
Want to vanish inside your kiss
Everyday I love you more and more
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing
Telling me to give you everything
Seasons may change, winter to spring
But I love you, until the end of time
Come what may
Come what may
I will love you until my dying day
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly my life doesn’t seem such a waste
It all revolves around you
And there’s no mountain too high, no river too wide
Sing out this song and I’ll be there by your side
Storm clouds may gather and stars may collide
But I love you ( I love you), until the end (until the end) of time
Come what may
Come what may
I will love you until my dying day
Oh come what may
Come what may
I will love you (I will love you)
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Come what may
Come what may
I will love you until my dying day
"The Entire World Is Counting On Me, And They Don't Even Know It" by Norma Jean describes how I feel right now.
Running away from this earth. May it pass away in the beautiful flames that it was created for. When tomorrow fails to come, today's just not the same. Roses fall down. Set all this world ablaze, for all I care.
