I really don't think it's fair. dude3 is such a mean person(here anyway) and he's an upstanding individual. He's rarely here...he doesn't care about you guys. Just himself. His comments are cruel.
I can understand Pufer's high karma...and congrats to him...but
I'd like a little more love...

Note that the following is not intended to agree or disagree with µ's post, nor to pass judgement on anyone. If it comes across as doing such, I'm sorry. It is merely intended to explain a little bit to her about Karma, at least as I understand it, which knowing me could mean that what I'm about to say is completely wrong. Take it with a grain of salt. Or sugar. Or saline.
Karma is not strictly a measure of how a person is all the time. Points are rewarded for spectacular things. It is true that people with high karma tend to be good or funny all the time, because if you are good all the time you do more spectacularly good or funny things, hence more points. While it is possible to get karma for being consistently good-I suspect one of my points came in that way, based on something SA said-karma, although it often is, does not have to be an absolute measure of the way a person ALWAYS is.

As to the greater topic, you don't need a high karma rating to feel loved or wanted in this community, µ, all you need to do is be yourself. As someone once said, you are not your karma, likewise, your karma isn't necessarily you. Just don't worry about it.

I must disagree. dude3 is one of my favorite members. He is very funny, with his one-line comments, and deserves all the karma he gets.
Anyway, as has been said, karma isn't the final judge of a person. Remember that we all got karma as a Christmas present?

It doesn't say anything about you, nor anyone else for that matter.

I have been slapped a few times, and praised a total number of three times, one of which being the Christmas present, one being a joke I made on the BnB, and one was just giving back the other on ethat was taken from me for a joke gone wrong on the BnB.
The Karma system makes sense usually, but to get praised to have to be pretty outstanding (I see some people with High Karma that really aren't all that spectacular) most of the time. Either way, it comes, if slowly.

I don't even remember what I got most of my karma for... I think consistently being nice might have been part of it. Though I'm not sure I was consistently, nice so... /frowns
I'd venture to say Slayer and stories. How many chrons did you write, counting each part seperately?

Waah, etc!
You must have missed the boat or something. I gave a grace week (or so, maybe more) to people who missed the original "deadline". By the time you get to late January and early February though, it just doesn't make sense to give out "Christmas presents". Perhaps you'll be there for something in the future.

Karma isn't as important as you think, trust me. Sometimes it's not even an accurate reflection of who you are... If you have low karma it doesn't necessarily mean that you are bad person, and if you have high karma it doesn't necessarily mean that you are a good person. Well... It may be accurate to a degree, but it's not perfect.
I think people are under the wrong impression here... Having high karma doesn't give you any special powers, it doesn't mean that you can get away with spamming or flaming... The only thing it does is acknowledge that you once did something good, and thus it will take longer to ban you if you start actin' a damn fool.
Anyway, I don't like it when posts are judged by the amount of karma somebody has; someone with low karma is capable of making educated posts, and someone with high karma can still be a jackass.

Meh, free karma is lame. You only get 15 max, so why waste it with points you don't deserve? Besides, if you get karma through hard work, it feels good.
That been said, I didn't get one either.

I would like to announce that if I suddenly stop posting it is because I have been banned for questioning the banning of JG. Either I will not be banned and continue posting, or I will be back under a new name when I go home in July to my old IP address in the United States.

That's doubtful. There's more behind the banning than andrew is willing to let out.

nufan tells me he thinks that he's been banned also for getting angry at andrew. MonsterLady might be banned also, but we don't know.

He's not banning just because JG disagreed with him. JG has had a "history" with andrew, and the recent mindset in the last topic finally got him fed up enough. Blaming the banning on the Cuba topic alone is a misperception of the situation. There are plenty of people who disagree with andrew who he has no intention of banning. Andrew has chosen not to explain for whatever reason - that is his decision (and seems to be the point most of the 'controversy' is over).
Also, apparently most topics [about JG] on JC are being deleted or locked (so don't bother posting there).
