Ares is a great game. I actually registered it.
It isn't hard to find this board, because if you use any Ambrosia product, you could stumble here somehow.

Too hard to learn? There's only about 7-8 keys maximum that you'd use in single player. (not counting the arrow keys for a menu). Unlike EV, which is infinately more complex. There's even a tutorial for Ares, three of them.
As for the graphics, that's probably because Classic sucks, get a computer that starts up in 9 and play it.

I’ve played Ares, but never registered it; I’ve even disabled the space station in level two (on multiple occasions) like any truly serious gamer would.

I would've finished it if not for all the bugs + my life. Yeah, that got in the way And the space station in level 2... I'm scrapin to even remember level two... Ah - space dishes, by chance? Those Obish cruisers were strong enough to deal quite a whoopin. It was the later levels that got hard...

They were great in multiplayer though!
I remember newb that decided to play me as Gaitori. Heh - not smooth. I told him 3 times that it was suicide, no response. So I started the match. He signed off after I beat him about 4 minutes later :-P
