I recently downloaded Ares again, as I have registered it and all... When done that, however I realized I had no keypad on my TiBook..

The keys are customisable, that is good.. Do anyone have a recommendation how to set them., in sort of a playable manner?

What are you using now? I'd recommend putting the arrow keys for movement, Space, Option, and Command for fire, Control(it does have that, right? Idon't have a book) for order to go, shift for hyperspace. F, g,h as select friendly, hostile, and base. Tb as 2x speed. this is hwrer it gets tricky. You proabbly want something like /.,m as the computer control, as the'yre close by the main controls.

Hope this helps. Or get a USB keyboard. Posted Image

I have always played Ares on a PB!
No worries there.
I find the inverted T arrows fins for ship control. I use
ctrl, option, apple keys for the 3 weapons, return for order to go, tab for warp.

Tab is the standard for warp, and it seems to be a good key for it. And I think it's more than just 2x.

I'd just try to recreate the keypad (or get as close as possible) on the right side of your keyboard.

I like SHift being warp, so it's right next to the fire buttons. Then, I can easily control my ship functions, othere than movement, with my left hand, and movement and computer with right hand.

I don't think carnae is listening.

Actually, TiBooks do have keypads, they're just a pain to use. You'll notice that some of your keys on the right side have small numbers also written on them - similar to ones you'd find in a keyboard. In order to use them, you just have to hold down the function (fn) key on the bottom left of your keyboard. But, if you don't want to spend the whole game holding down a tiny key in the corner, I'd suggest you re-customize your keyboard, perhaps to fit a layout you're used to (maybe from other games).

I don't see how it's a good key at all... I always used the "J" key for it because I played EV/O/N so much, I guess I was used to J being the jump key. It would make more since wouldn't it? I would think Tab would be the ship select key... as in EV, also that it's meant for switching around (forums, etc.)

It depends on what games you play, I'm having trouble adjusting to using the "J" key for jumping now that I've picked up Nova.

I bet you could also set up a joy stick, but since it's 2d it might be a little weird.

I have a PowerBook as well and I have the same problem (obviously).

I configured my arrow keys for movement, tab = jump, control = order to go, option, shift, space = fire, z, x, c = select friendly, hostile, planet, . and / = zoom out and in.

The idea of setting Ares' controls to be like a game you already play is very good.
In fact, that's what i did as soon as i got Ares. I reconfigured many of the controls to mirror EV and EVO. I suppose once you use something for 3 years you kinda get stuck on it. Posted Image Posted Image

Works out well and avoids apparent dyslexia when playing different games of the same genre.
