...so I will make my mark here as I have done on the banter & brawl, as a sensible pychopath. One more island of insanity in a rolling sea of stupidity ™.

So, hello folks. Nice to know ya.

Now I'm just off to the rubadub to spend some mash on a bit of nosh, I'm ****in Lee Marvin over here.

I think you should go back to the B&B with an attitude like that about Lee Marvin.

No, "Lee Marvin" is a foreign term to us virgin minds.

It means Starving, for those of you who live outside of the greater London area.
I woulden't worry to much, the rest of the British public don't generally have an idea what cockneys are on about either.

Bangers & mash -- cash
Rubadub -- pub
Lee Marvin -- starvin

If you think that's bad, try going to duckin Liverpool. They'll teach you a thing or two (like how to twock half price lighters)

The previous post brings up a point I have been wondering about. When is a topic considered "dead"? Do the different boards have different etiquettes as to when something is dead, or is it an unwritten rule for the entire site? Also, is it considered OK to reply to an old post in an active topic when your post has nothing to do with the current item being discussed in the topic?

The standard period to "death" for a topic is ten days. After 10 days with no posts, the topic is dead, and future posts to it are looked down upon and usually get the topic locked. However, this period may be different for different boards (on B&B for example, you probably wouldn't even see a ten day old topic on the first page [EDIT: Right now, the first page on the B&B goes back 3 days. You need to go to the third page to get to topics ten days old]). I never heard of anyone getting problems for replying to an old post, although it can be confusing to people reading the topic.

If you do reply to something from earlier in the topic, though, it's best to use the "reply" function so people know what you're talking about. There's much less confusion that way.
