Er, is it relative, or does it it seem to me that there are eight, (that's 8 for those of us who speak in symbols) live topics here...
Ya having trouble with your maths Avatara...
Actually, this brings to mind the famous uncertainty principle, as applied here to web boards, specifically the Ares web board (but generally applicable to any web board I suppose)(this has nothing to do with cats by the way, black or otherwise, whether they be in boxes or outside), as it is a "live" forum, one can never be sure just how many topics are alive or not alive at any given point, this is always assuming that the therm "live" has been accurately defined for a given set of variables (...you with me so far, oh good), in this case the degree of traffic within a certain topic on a certain web board (the aforementioned Ares Web board for those of you who have just come in). How do we know when a topic actually becomes "dead", or in this case not "alive", relatively speaking. (As a tangental thought here, how do we know that Joveia is not in actual fact the Count in disguise? He may in fact be the Count just until the fraction of an instant before he posts a particular point, or he may not be, as the case may be... But can we ever be sure...? Ever since that brain transplant he has been... not entirely the Count. (What exactly is a Joveia anyway? Somebody from Jupiter perhaps, but can we be sure?). Perhaps the Count is in fact Joveia in disguise, or perhaps neither of them is in fact the other.) Er, where was I, oh yes, can we calculate the probability that a particular topic is at any moment active, alive, or dead, and at what point does a "live" topic become a "dead" one? What is the probability that a particular topic may receive a reply from someone at a given moment in time in relation to the similar (but entirely different and absolutely unrelated) probability that another equally innocent topic may in fact also receive a reply at, before, after, or (and here's the true uncertainty...) instead of that first mentioned (entirely theoretical here of course) topic.
Hmmm, nope, doesn't make any sense to me either... Now, I wonder what the probability is that I'll get served within two days in the bar is. I hear they have just received a new batch of Greenyblue Stuff lately...
