What would your favourite ship be (in standard Ares and from plug-ins) to fly and to have as your wingman.

Mine are:

My ship: Modified Cruiser
Wingman: Ejeetan Cruiser

------------------
Grand Fleet Admiral Slathkill, Supreme Commander I.M.A. Fleet

Well, I haven't actually made it yet, but a UTO Advanced Frigate, for my ship, and I wouldn't need a wingman.

Obish Escort with Escort escort. (Standard Ares, I fly these better than any other ship in the game)
But, I think I'd like two UESC Troopships (Marathon: Invasion, Fission Torpedoes, bien sûr)
Or maybe a Vernius frigate with a couple lighters (Landsraad) ...
Then, any {M}ilitia ship with a Boreas would do fine (Voyager)

Well, I'm glad to see so many people still remember Marathon. Anyway, I'd go for:

My Ship: Human Gunship
Wingman: Salrillian Stealth Fighter

I fly Human Gunships better than any other ship in the game. I just wish more of the human ships where actually worth something :-(

Hmmm....

My Ship: Modified Cruiser (I can take out 6 Cantharan Cruisers and 2 Cantharan Heavy Cruisers with that ship).

Wingman: Ishiman HVD

[ Posted Image]Well Mag, if we want to go on plug ego trips, I'd take a Jjaro Dreadnought.
THEN I could kill you. [/ Posted Image]

Well, I'm not so sure. I'd have to see them fight it out in multi with us at the helms.
A weapon that does 125 damage/tic and sticks around like an audemedon tazer while it pulls your ship toward it and has a single-pixel core that has a collide action of "die: destroyed" that ISN'T reflexive isn't anything to sneeze at. The shields, however, are a little above Ish carrier level, and it's not too hard to dodge. The AI, however, will get slaughtered; I don't know about human opponents.

Collide action: Die Destroyed, Nonreflexive. How could he not kill you with that weapon? Maybe two Scalpals could as well...
And maybe a Vernius Monitor with Frigate Escort. That's a Monitor, a Frigate, a Warship, and 6 CPods.

You might want to check out my calculations in the Briefing Room on 200 Resources worth of UESG Troopships.

I decided the "instagib" part is a little overkill. No "die destroyed", nonreflexive on my ships.
Still, it is very deadly (ask the Cantharan gateship, or the several Audemedon carriers Posted Image).

I will... just a couple minutes...

--OK, I did use cheap tactics...
--But no kind of tactics should be able to destroy 10 Gateships with
--less than 10% loss of shields!

If you're refering to the Jjaro Dreadnought or Foldship, that sounds about right. Jjaro ships are combatant, and Gateships aren't. It's wayyyy too slow to save itself from the accretion disks.

Besides, the Jjaro are supposed to clean clocks like nobody's business. If you pit them against Auds, they've got the same ratio of effectiveness to price.

Ares: Ishiman gunship with 2 cruisers

My own: Union battlecruiser and a heavy destroyer
