I am trying to find out the names of traditional weapons of the Ares species (e.g. a Scottish Claymore, an Italian cinqueda a Klingon Bat'leth etc.) and what they look like. With the exeption of the Audemons all races MUST have a traditional weapon of some sort.

I think it would be required for a species to need ancient weapons for some reason. The Ishimans most likely wouldn't, since they are herboviors who would much rather find a way to flee an enemy than kill it. I can't picture them as ever having been warlike in their past.
The Obiards definately had them, but probably nothing too different than what we have down here.
The Cantharans most likely had them, but I can't really imagin what (having all those spear-like appendages is almost a weapon enough).
I doubt the Sals had anything aside from small tools and wit.
I imagine the Elejeetians had weapons just in case, but likely relied on evasion, armor, traps, etc., and most likely used them primarily for defense.
The Bazidanese I could see as have light, stout weapons for close quarters combat. Not much else I have to go on with them.
That should be it...

Throughout their history these "unenlightened" beings have continually opposed and fought abuses of power wrought by their own bretheren. We, as the prophets would do well to learn from these Humans.

I bet that the Ishimans just had almost no natural predators, and by the time society developed, they really didn't have a concept of killing eachother for personal gain.(obviously, such innocence dies hard when faced with the brutality of the galaxy) I think weapons are a totally foreign idea to the Ishiman race, and the fact that they have good ones only shows their adaptability.

Actually, I think it used to be the other way around. The Ishimans had a HUGE number of predators on their planet, barely got technology, and that's why they're so timid. I'd imagine their traditional weapon is a pointy stick.
The Cantharans probably had spears and some sort of swinging weapon, maybe a flail or club, as who in their right mind would get near the other guy's spearlike apendages when there was an alternative?

"Strategic warfare" is code for "killing civilians", and it's my calling. Yeah, it's barbaric. War's supposed to be.

On the contrary, a race that had a hard time staying alive would be really tough. Look at humans. We're weak, and most animals could kill us off easy. Its only by being tough, and smart that we survived. If the Ishimans were always being chased and eaten, they would have lots of traditional weapons, would be very aggressive, and would go out and kill everything that thought about pushing them around(remind you of anybody? *cough*humans*cough*)

Substitute "tough" for "uses tools and is both paranoid and adaptable," and you just about have it.
