2: To say "hi" to everyone in the Ares community, as I will make an official entrance to the Ambrosia Webboards.
So, without further adue, "hi!". (Thank you sooo much ASW that we poor unregisteredieees can post topics!)
So back to the main issue, which is better, Escape Velocity (any of the series), or Ares?

A word of warning: some topics will get you into a heap of trouble. This is one.
Hi from Fleet Admiral Darkk, former Ares world champion. VERY former.

Well, EV's excitement has worn off by now, but I'll put in my opinions:
EV is better than Ares, which is better than EVO.

Uhh, EV/O and EV(O) mean EV and EVO. You mean EVO. Something cannot be better than itself.

Well, I think we understood him anyway.
Personally, they tie in my mind. They're different games with different styles. When I want a progessive style of play, I play EV or EVO. When I want strategical battles and enemies which can't be beaten by the Monty Python maneuver, I play Ares.

Um, ok. The enemies in Ares (most) do fall to either the cirling or headlong charge manuvers. Also, all building missions can be beaten by a combination of cruiser, gunship, and/or e pod rushes and my megadefense strat (building tons of ships on your home planet until the enemy is hopelessly outnumbered).
I play Ares when I want fast action and/or multiplay. EV(O) is for when I want to evolve a character or play a plug with a really cool complex plot. Ares has a nice plot, and so do some of its plugs, but EVO and many plugs for both EVs have better ones.

Darkk, you've said that at least three times!

Hey, somebody agrees with me. I have always loved EV, and I still play it from time to time. I play what I can of Ares (haven't registered yet) and think it has a better plotline. I still can't wait for EV Nova to come out because it will erase all the bad things of EVO (I liked the missions but the ships were not the coolest ones around).

EV/O!!! Definitely....I really don't like Ares much at all, which is why I'm almost never on this board.
Why bother to post here at all then? *grabs his torch*

I think they're different. I usually play ares more, but I started a new EV pilot a couple days ago that I'm really enjoying (I'm managing to be a double agent. Got the first missions for both sides at the same time in some bar somewhere... ). I have an argosy with 45 missiles, fully upgraded shields, turning, etc., 2 missile launchers, 2 javellin launchers + 999 javellins, and 2 proton turrets. It's fun.
Only two javelin launchers
