Who do they think they are, anyway?

Oh wait, I think we actually are they. Hm. What do you guys think we should do about us?

I had some rocky road earlier this evening, it was especially delicious for the addition of marshmallows.

Hey believe me, I didn't mean it in a negative way at all. What you guys did to "Hector's War" brought warmth to my heart.

Ehhehhehheh. :P I so would have participated in the spamming up of Hector's war if I was here earlier.

Well in any case, I fired back with a corrected description of the BnB. Let's see how that all plays out...

Contrary to popular belief, pie crust is what makes the pie, fillingstuffs are interchangable.

Tis true!
My friend's mom buys premade filling but makes her own crusts and her pies are always better than pies w/ premade filling and crusts...
Of coarse there are sometimes when the filling changes the quality, too, like if someone only likes one flavor or if the filling is made out of apple cores and newspaper.

Although, I've had some fine mock apple pies (filling=crackers) in my day as well purely because of the crust.

What does that have to do with pie preference? :P

I've just realised today that I can't listen to my stereo, unless the volume level is an even number.

Am I normal?

I love irony.

And incidentally, apple pie is great. What I don't get is the expression "American as Apple Pie". What's so American about apple pie? It's a common dish in practically every country I've visited. Hell, it was a common dish in some of those countries before America was even settled by whitey.

Apparently, colonial Americans were written about back in England as eating dutch apple pie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. While apple pie surely did exist everywhere, the impression, probably accurate for whatever reason, was that the colonial types at a lot more of it than did anyone else. The Colonialists liked the idea of being linked with apple pie, so it went into the common lexicon. The phrase really got legs over here, however, when the military stock line during WWII for filmreel interviews was that they were fighting for "mom and apple pie." There's a show occasionally shown on The History Channel up here that features an argument between a media historian and a military historian as to whether it was the guys holding the cameras telling the soldiers to say that or the Army hierarchy who ordered it to be said. Riveting television as you can well imagine.
