How does a fictional character affect me so much? Dumbledore wasn't even close to my favorite character.

Perhaps it's the sign of a good book.
You put what in my Power Mac?
Its like what happens when you cross a phoenix with a super black hole; it's powerful enough to destroy itself, only to be reborn in a vicious cycle of torment and pain. Or in this case, nonsense.

I've read plenty of good books. It wouldn't bother me in the least to find out any of the characters were secretly gay throughout the story.

Snape shags Dumbledore!
Why am I here? Why do I exist, and what is
my purpose in this universe?

(Answers: 'Cause you are. 'Cause you do. 'Cause I got a
shotgun, and you ain't got one.)

It makes sense that Dumbledore is gay. It doesn't have a massive impact on the story by any means, though.

And she said that he was gay; not that he was a pedophile or anything of the sort.

Now that would've been funny. :P

You find pedophilia funny? You, sir, therefore, must, with much certainty, be, without a doubt, a pedophile.

Try diagramming that sentence.

I never learned how to diagram sentences. Seemed like a waste of time.

It's not alltogether a waste of time. I think it's given me a fundamental understanding of language that's helped me more with learning other languages than learning English.
