But that in itself can bring about cynicism. Some things shouldn't be as acceptable. Although, I disagree with myself with the points you brought up. Race, Sex, etc.
Well it kinda depends what it is. After the initial shock, thinking about the place and time Babar was written, France between the Wars, the views expressed in it made a bit more historical sense, but it was still rather weird.

I'm kinda scared to reread them after a recent episode invovling me reading Babar to a bunch of pre-school kids. I got about half-way through the book when I realised what an incredibly racist, sexist, neo-colonialist story it was. So know I approach all children's books with some hestitation that I'll realise they're not as good as I remember them being.
Is this a good time to mention that a relative of mine drew the original drawings for Babar?

The time really had little to do with it, Francocentric (neo-)colonialism was an underlying theme of quite a lot of French work from the 17th Century through the nostalgia of the 1950's.

I also have a famous author relative, his name was Beverly Nichols.

I believe that the discoverer of Paget's Disease of the Nipple is distantly related.

Why do you "have" to take Chem, µ? Both Biology and Geology are vastly superior sciences.

I have to take Chem next year as part of my Mechanical Engineering major. Bio is not required. I took AP Bio last year (high school), so if I get the college credit it will be an elective. I loved AP Bio though. It was my favorite class of senior year. Good times.
