For the third time during my current multi-hour research paper cramming session, Safari has decided that it's a good idea to crash while I've got >5 tabs open with meticulously discovered pages that are now buried somewhere in my history. Meanwhile, Safari doesn't have session-recovery. This sucks a lot.

Discuss. Or complain. Or help me procrastinate.

Use camino. Or firefox if you have the processing power because of it has an option to remember which sites were open when you quit it, and open them again on startup. I've forgotten the name of the plugin that does this though.

Firefox generally feels like molasses on my machine, though I still use it for certain things. I may give Camino a try, though. I suppose the only other alternative is to wait it out for Leopard and hope that Safari 3 sucks a good deal less.

Camino is excellent. It pretty much combines the good features of Safari and Firefox without most of the irritating parts of either of them.

I am now using Camino. It appears to be made of win. The only annoyance that I've had so far is that I had to re-add all my bookmarks to the toolbar in order to get the favicons to show up. Yeah, I'm slightly OCD like that.

Yeah, the only thing I can remember being annoyed at it about was its quirks with favicons.

I like Safari actually. Even when I'm cramming and researching.

So long as I don't need to hit up flash and heavily java-laden sites, I stick with Safari. Flash and big java stuff seem to make Safari really unstable recently.

Get the plug-in called Saft. It remembers what tabs were open whether you quit, forced quit, crashed, had a kernel panic that brought down the whole computer, power outage, you name it.

I've used Safari ever since about 5 minutes after first getting the net on my PowerMac G4, and realising that IE sucked so much ass. I have some trouble with it crashing on the older computers I use, but for the most part I find it stable and the best thing out there. I have firefox as a back up browser, but find that I use it less and less.

The only problems I have with Safari is that the way I use it gobbles up RAM. But I have plenty of RAM, so it's only a big deal when it starts to bog down other apps when I keep Safari open for weeks at a time.

Seeing as Camino has yet to crash on me and Safari usually did several times a day, I don't think I'm be breaking out Safari again until I get Leopard.
