It's just been made in to a film, the trailer for which I've seen a few times now, and it actually looks half interesting. At first I thought it was something of a Harry Potter clone, but then I read up on it and saw it was written in the 60s...

Its like what happens when you cross a phoenix with a super black hole; it's powerful enough to destroy itself, only to be reborn in a vicious cycle of torment and pain. Or in this case, nonsense.
-Avatara, on the life cycle of ATT.
Dude, imagine Redline Trash Talk; the unholy spawn of B&B and ATT.

I dunno, I was in maybe Eight Grade when I read them. I know my mom likes them, but she grew up when they released so it might be a combination of Nostalgia + being a Youth Librarian. It really couldn't hurt though.

Also, over the summer I had to read three books for school: Old Man and the Sea, Alive, and Red Badge of Courage.
Alive was okay. The actual story is incredible, but the writing wasn't great. It just seemed to drag on and on. I guess if I was a more spiritual person I might have gotten more out of the book.
I enjoyed Old Man and the Sea. It was a truly thought provoking, but simple story. The parallels between the old man and Jesus were particularly interesting.
I haven't read Red badge of Courage yet.

I've read most of them. The ones with the three kids are rubbish (i like that word), the ones with the one kid rock. For example, The Dark is Rising is awesome, my favorite book of the series, but, say, Greenwitch sucked. Personal preference. Carry on.

The Old Man and the Sea is quite possibly one of the best books I've ever read. I love that book. I was pleasantly surprised when I read it Sophomore year. I thought, "Oh dear.. this is going to be so drab.." But after reading it, it became an instant favorite.

My girlfriend has this to say about the series:
"The books are wonderful. They're some of the best and most classic fantasy I've ever read. But the movie looks really disappointing. I think they changed around a lot of things to avoid making it look like a Harry Potter clone, but I have a feeling a lot of the good parts are going to be missing (Will is going to be from America, not Buckinghamshire, and instead of having a big, supportive family, he's the stereotypical 'misunderstood' kid). But the company doing the movies is the same as the one that did the Chronicles of Narnia, so maybe it won't be all bad. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do the other books."
The preceding is in no way my opinion. If you ask me, they sound pretty girly, but then I've never read them.

I was mainly saying that I like girly stuff, but your comment works better!
