Most of the forums on the Ambrosia boards have about a 1:10 ratio of topic replies to topic views. It makes sense for all the forums for the games, since a lot of googlers will come across threads when searching "ev 3D" or "nude sidescroller mac". For the BnB and Just Chat it makes sense, since they have a lot of lurkers.

But for the ATT, it doesn't make sense. When you view a thread and post in it, you at most view it twice or three times. Even WAF somehow manages to have a 1:6 ratio. There's pretty much nothing useful here that someone would be googling for, and I find it hard to believe that we have lurkers. My theory is that a certain member is sitting at his or her computer all day refreshing the ATT threads to up the view counts. What about all of you?

I went ahead and refreshed this thread a few times. I would have done it more, but my connection is too slow.

I lurk around looking at topics usually. When I see something I want to reply to, I reply to it.

It almost crashed Safari, but...

Hows a 1:45 ratio sound?

This has been an effect of procrastination.

Obviously there's a massive conspiracy here.

I may or may not have refreshed the page repeatedly to inflate the view count.

The feet topic doesn't have the 1:6 ratio...

It's too long. No-one except those who posted early on want to read a topic over three pages long.

It's important to consider that any person who attempts to read through the entirety of WAF will add 408 views. I don't doubt that this has been done more than a few times.

There's over 10,000 quality, frequently googled words on WAF. Doesn't surprise me at all.

We could add random vocab words like munificence and meretricious to the WAF to inflate the view count further. Or is that not the point?

I view threads much, much, much more than I post. That whole "don't post where you have nothing to say" rule, remember?

I know several lurkers of these boards. (Hi Selax!)

I read a lot more than I post. And I confess to reading through about half of the WAF over several months.

I pretty much killed that rule. I post in just about every topic I read. :P

I lurk in the ATT, and I assume there are others like me boosting the view count as well.

Even though I have a pretty high post count, I only post about every tenth time I look at something. It should be taken into account that occasionally the boards are more interesting.

Someone with a low post count who has been here ages should be under suspicion as a lurker.
