I like the boards better than playing it through Classic.

Indeed. I've never gotten much out of Ares.

Actually, Nathan Lamont holds the rights to the source code, not Ambrosia. There are those of us who tried to get permission to use graphics from the game for various plugs for various games and even that was difficult. Besides, the Ares cource code is a fickle beast as we sadly learned from Hera.

Yeah personally I think a game Ambrosia no-longer supports shouldn't be charged for.

I have my copy! But I can't play it. :P

I've always wanted to play a network game of Ares. It looks like so much fun...

I should contact Nathan Lamont and just start pleading.

Do Dodos have a life? Course Ares is dead, in this Intel world of OSx. I still have my Classic Mac, so I can still play it though :P
Oh, so it is another bug hunt then...

I would play it in Sheepshaver, except it seems to like blowing my whole system up in my face. Then again, there's always Basilisk...

To let you folks know, this topic brought me back to Ares. I've been playing it at work on my laptop these past few days.

Ah, life is sweet.

I only have the demo on the old mac arcade cds. I need 15 bucks and a license code from what I last saw. This was 6 years ago so it might have changed.

Meh, campaign sucks out loud. Multiplayer is fun enough.

Movie Battles FTW.

Trust me, the campaign blows, plus I could never get the second disk to work no matter what. Multiplayer is alrite if your computer is very fast and has a very fast internet connection. TheLoser do you have it?

Yeah. Unless you get a mod (like Movie Battles it's pretty much a chat room with light sabers, which isn't necessarily bad.

I wonder if they have it for Linux...

Well I'm letting my dear friend borrow it and he beats the first disc, but can't get the second disk to work. Did you get the second disk to work or did you just give up like I did after a couple of hours on the campaign?

As far as I can tell, the second disc is just for installing JKA. I've beaten the campaign, several times. Most of the time with cheats.

So the whole game is just on one disc but they put it on two discs to install?

Ares wasn't a FAT binary, was it? If it was, it could be played in the OS X verison of Basilisk II, which is UB now, I believe.
