Um, hi hector. I haven't been here long either, so don't feel wierded out just yet.

Maybe not physics so much, but I'll see when I try the field out proper in my mathematics course. And although I am a Mac user I was never big on computers. I enjoyed my experiments at 11-13 of messing with code and resource forks, but when it came to learning languages I found the practice of making things with code to be too repetitive for my interest.

So this place is basically for us to type about whatever we want? All subjects allowed?

There are some things which may not be spoken of here... In fact, I can't even mention it it's so bad.

We're pretty much mod-less with the mysterious disappearance of SA back in spring '05.

Yes, like don't talk about personal problems. And don't tell us if you have a girlfriend. Or if you have a boyfriend either.

Anything you don't think should be on the forums...probably shouldn't be here. But we get away with alot. So check the rules and get talking.

While you can, in general, talk about just about any subject you'd like here, it's usually best to keep it relatively clean in order to stay out of trouble. The justification for this is that it is plausible that folks of any age (we have members here as young as 13 if I remember correctly, even though most of us are a fair bit older than that) may come across your posts about attending ritualistic torture rituals that contain pics portraying explicit beastiality which will cause the kids' eyes to melt. I really don't buy into that idea, but that policy is contained in the board's established common law, so it is in your best interest to stick away from such stuff. Until you figure out where the norms are in this community (which is not very difficult), you should stay away from identifiably "adult" themes, direct insults towards folks or anything associated with folks (religion, race, paint color preference, etc.), and posts that have absolutely no redeeming value (less important here than on other boards). Regardless of how long you stick around, pornographic images are pretty well not allowed on the boards, nor is speak of pirating software (this is a software company's webboard after all). Basically, just act like you do in real life (assuming that you're not a homicidal maniac rapist with no sense of humor and major issues with authority) and you should be just fine.

Welcome to the boards and good luck! :P

Thanks for the advice, everyone. As one may expect I was not specifically planning to post porn here anyway, just wanted to know if there was anything off-topic that still would fit elsewhere.

I might make a thread for voting on the board's favourite albums in the near future, though I will only tally it if more than twenty lists are posted so putting it up on Just Chat is what I have been considering instead.

Hey now, we just said that kind of behavior is inappropriate on the boards.

Just Chat would be better named"Just Debates," EV Banter & Brawl should be "Just ASW Community Chat," ATT (here) should be "Just Random Crap (Now With Squid!)," and the Cythera board should be named "Just Tumbleweeds." :P

Most of the other boards are fairly aptly named.

I only say this to impress upon you that your favorite albums list topic would be much better received at the B&B, and certainly not Just Chat, although similar topics have been done on the subject in the past.
