Nova has an IRC channel. Uplink does. Coldstone does. Pop-pop does. BnB does. EV4 does, and it doesn't even exist yet. So see about getting into #att some time soon.

Heh, might I add that EV4 was a joke that me and McJohn started a long time ago (so long ago, I don't even remember what the joke really was)... :P At one point I was going to remove Nadia from there, but I never got around to it, and so it stuck. *shrug*

For some reason these boards don't really seem to work nearly as well in IRC form vs board fourm. Quite simply what happens is, no one shows up. Because of this, it always fails. A lot of the people either refuse to go on IRC, don't know about IRC, or used to go on IRC but don't go on anymore for some reason or another.

...don't go on anymore for some reason or another.

IE, not enough people show up so after the 100th time of nobody being online, it just doesn't seem worthwhile.

No, that's okay. I'd assume that you're certaintly welcome to try. Nothing wrong with trying... just don't know how long it would last or how many people might show up. :P

Actually, I did talk with DE for a while. It could work, but there is no way I'm leaving my Linux box on the net without a good firewall.

One channel doesn't. When people go between, say, 10... that takes attention and annoys people everywhere. When people go away and don't say /away...

#ev3 has too many people with too many crude jokes.

Then again, is #att likely to turn out any different?

+t and chanserv aren't the best combinations for message-leaving. :/

IRC = Internet Relay Chat. It's been around forever. As in your 1200-baud modem in the basement would work well enough. Ambrosia's IRC server is irc.ambrosiasw.com. Go there with a web browser and you get a blank page.
My information is incomplete. Theirs shouldn't be.

Or... the short guide to IRC.
1. Get a client.
You use Windoze (I think), so I can't help you much with a client. A Windoze-using friend of mine would say Chatzilla, but I've never used it, so I can't say much about it. Even if you don't use Chatzilla, at least get Firefox.
2. Set one of your servers to irc.ambrosiasw.com. The port should be 6667.
3. Pick a nickname and a "real" name. Your nickname must be a~z, A~Z, 1~0, no spaces, special chars. Ignorant of this rule, I showed up one day on #ev3 as "The".
4. Log in.
5. Type "/join #att" (no quotes).
If you did everything right, you should see something labeled "chanserv" next to your nickname and possibly others.

Why is it anytime i want to learn how to do something new with my computer its always the most mac-addicted person around who sets about explaining it?
Regardless, I am now to tired and salty to do this (and i am suspicious downloading will be involved) so i will leave it for another day.

Actually, I think mIrc is the simplest program for Windows, easiest to find - just google it.

The correct server is irc.ambrosia.net not what was posted above.

Actually, either would work. There's an automated forwarding type of thing that gets you to a fully populated Ambrosia IRC server.

ankh: because this is a forum of a predominantly Mac software company. And I know how to do just about anything and everything with computers short of programming something useful, or making Windoze bulletproof.

The forwarding must be new, it caused a lot of problems for many new irc users previously.

And can you tell me how to change a finder shortcut so command-shift-G launches a specific folder window rather than the "go to folder" shortcut, the latter being something I never use. Third party programs are a heavy minus.
