Ok...so I just got my wisdom teeth out...and a fernectomy(which is the removal of the little strip of skin between your two front teeth that connects your upper lip to your gum). So I have stitches in five places in my mouth. I can't feel my chin or lower lip and it feels like my whole mouth is swollen. Gahhhh! The pain! I also threw up earlier beause I made the mistake of taking pain medication on an empty stomach. Ick. So yeah, thats my story for now.

Ouch . . . I have to get my wisdom teeth out sometime in the next four months . . .

Ouch indeed. My wisdom teeth are just growing. I hopefully will not have to get them taken out.

I hope you feel better. :P

The first couple of days: sit back, relax, watch a movie, read a book, or something that doesn't involve effort or reflexes. I found out that the very fragile clots would break even if I played a game of Descent.
For the next couple of days: you will look like a chipmonk. Don't forget to post a pic ;)
I was unfortunate enough to have an impacted molar (it was rotated 90° until surgery, and will be corrected once . When I got my wisdom teeth out, I found out I had a cavity because there was one place I couldn't brush. Then I found out that they don't use the mercury-and-silver fillings any more and that I'll likely be back in another chair in 10 years thanks to the new stuff they use. It was even over the fall break, so I didn't get to have turkey and everything else.

Ouch, can't use painkillers? Not even liquid?

At least you'll never have to go through this again, and it hurts a lot less now than it would forty years from now.

The worst will be over soon and you'll probably be up and about in a few days.

Well here on day two I've been able to take the weaker of my pain killers. But my mouth is swollen...so I have to wear my ice packs...my boyfriend is planning on coming over later so that should make me feel better. :P

My wisdom teeth removal ceremony was remarkably uneventful. My only complaints came from a dissolving suture that didn't dissolve and had to be ripped out a couple weeks after the fact and the fact that I couldn't brush my teeth with my normal vigor for a couple weeks after the surgery. I had no pain, no swelling, and was able to eat normally (in terms of food selection) within a week. I believe that I owe my uneventful event and quick recovery to my oral surgeon who was likely standing in a field somewhere when they invented dentistry. This fellow has been a fixture in the Albuquerque dental community so long that he removed both of my parents' wisdom teeth back when they were my age and now has it down to such a system that he doesn't even have to think about it anymore.

I'm sure they've told you this a dozen times, vec, but I might reiterate that you don't want to be drinking anything with a straw or even slightly carbonated for at least a couple weeks lest you dislodge the clots. One of my buddies in high school learned that the hard way and was in very poor condition for a solid month after the fact. Good luck! :P

And don't eat nuts, they really do get stuck in those holes.

Haha...Nuts getting stuck in holes...

*cough*

Yea..When I got my frenectomy, it was hilarious, I tried drinking out of a straw almost immediately after...I don't know what I looked like...but it sure was funny!

Well, first of all, because it's hot (yeah. It is). Second, I'd like a piercing, but nowhere on my face (I go to shows and in the pit too much, and I don't want it to get torn out in a fight either). Also, it makes sex better they say. It's a logical step, I think :P

Wow.

Course the nuts thing is right (I mean, in general... really...)

I was digging peanut chunks out for weeks after I decided that I'd eat some. Oops. Ice cream is your best friend, soup is good too. DO NOT try to drink a milkshake through a straw. In fact, avoid straws.

It took me a couple months before straws felt normal again. I had mine out on Nov 1st, 2001. That's the day Monsters, Inc. came out...

In a sexual moment when everyone's real horney, the feeling of a piercing would be a turn on

As long as the metal isn't cold.

What variety of a penile piercing are you looking at?

In any event, as I'm sure forge would say, it brings a whole new meaning to saying, "It feels like steel, baby." :P

SWEET JESUS!!!!!!!

MY MIND!

Why would you do that to your...your...little buddy...think about what would happen if it got infected...plus it would most likely render a condom useless.

I forgot to think about condoms...

meh.

And I think it would be neat. We'l lsee how it goes.

And, if you think about it, that place is abotu the least likely to be infected as anything. It's exposed to very little, and is about the most protected place on my entire body.

It's warm and damp and dark, if it does get infected then that'll be it for Mr. PeePee. Oh god, that's not a nice thought.
