Except playing music is fun. And an awesome way to meet new people while on such a trip.

Really? See, I would imagine it just gets in the way. Surely like talking or something would be more efficient.

Well, I find the cool thing about playing music is... You can be in a group of 100 band kids, and you'll automatically strike up a conversation and have a bunch of long-term friends. It's not weird or anything, it's just kind of understood that everyone there is awesome.

It's kinda weird to explain.

Basically, band people have an unexplainable bond. We can't explain it and nobody else understands it but it's there. Some are closer than others...

I think it's easier to strike up conversations with debate kids. Band kids are often nerdy and awkward.

Hmmm. I'm still not convinced. See, at my school, both band kids and debate kids were considered nerds basically because all the band kids spent all their time hanging out in the music department, and all the debate kids spent time in the IT department.

The really cool people just dropped out and sat their exams at a college, hence giving them waaay more free time in which to do fun stuff, like sail.

I will most likely be working full time, or nearly so. I'll be turning 19 and will need more than just spending cash soon.
I've got my eye on a tech support job at a local ISP. Here's to hoping it won't drive me insane.

I hate him with a passion... :P

But proud of it. I guess a lot of band kids have that in common, except exceptions like dude3, who's one of those incredibly smart, knows all the right people kinda guy. Then again..TJ is very smart too...but definitely weirder than dude3.

But the nerdier the guy, the better :P

Excellent, the plan is working. Release the bunnies.

The band/chorus kids hang out in the music area of my school. I join them sometimes (being somewhat musically inclined). These guys really aren't nerdy. Their hobbies include going to Wawa and the local girls school. But then again, what male's isn't?

The only Wawas I know of is baby talk for water and a small town in Canada. Perhaps Ottowa is the place to be for fun in your neck of the woods, but I can't see it. :P

We don't hang out with choir kids. They are of a different breed. TOTALLY different.

Wow, most Chorus kids are Band kids, and the same goes the other way around. I stick to band though, even though I like to hang out with the chorus kids.

I hate band with a passion myself. I love playing my instruments, but our director is an…erm…obsessive psychopath. I only remain in it so I can get access to all the school instruments that I don't own, myself. :P

All the music programs at my school seem like a cult. With a few exceptions most people hate them, but then almost no one ever quits.

The problem with quitting is having to have that conversation with the director of the ensemble. A conversation that I have no doubt would suck in the worst way possible.

I wouldn't say that I'm entirely without nerditity, especially since last night I had a nightmare about out jazz concert going horribly awry.
