Hey y'all! I have a really good file on my Cythera game, but whenever I try to play it, the game crashes. Help!

Cythera wigs out when it's run while Mac OS X is going, even though it runs on the Classic OS. In order to run Cythera properly, you have to boot up in Classic mode. Also, the first time it crashes in OS X, it corrupts the save game file, so that it will keep crashing when the save game file is loaded, including when you boot up in Classic. Unless you want to deal with the game continuing to eventually crash every time that Save file is loaded, you'll need to start over with a new file. But don't be too bummed out - if this is you're first time through, you'll find out soon enough that no matter how far you are, you're not as far as you think.

Thanx, I got that sorted out, anyway, I know I probably shouldn't change the topic, but I don't want to start a new one either. So: Whenever I tell Atheon to pick a lock, he walks up to it, and says "Work the lock!" But the door is still locked.

I can't remember exactly, but I think this is another bug. The only times I can remember picking the locks on doors is when I did it myself. I think Atheon is supossed to be able to do it as long as he has lock picks, but it never seemed to work right for me, either. The best thing to do is just get yourself trained in Lockpicking. It's either Atheon or the Rat-Catcher-Guild Guy who can train you in that, I think. There's also the option of learning the spell Unlock, which has a higher success rate than standard lockpicking.

Of course, the best lockpick tends to be a mace.

Yeah, but I'm not going to do the team stories or tavern. I still keep up with that stuff, but I realized that my problem was that I would spend hours, or even days, preparing what I was going to write for those things, even going so far as to make several rough drafts for every post. I'm not a very good or efficient writer, and I realized that it wasn't the time I spent on the board, but the time I spent preparing what I would write for the board that was giving me trouble. Having really poor time management skills bites. But I'll be around every once in a while to post helpful stuff, like the crashing thing and whatnot.

Or you could come up with an idea in your head (while you're doing something else - daydream about it), write it down in your spare time (like on a laptop in a long car ride), modify it, and post it. Don't spend four hours in front of your computer trying to come up with something - if you're stuck, save what you have and go do something else - a solution might come to you.
