That's right folks... here's how it all came to be...
After years of playing the game I decided to go on the one quest that everyone that plays RP games wants to do. Murder every, single, living person in the kingdom and stuff them into boxes and crates that you can carry around. So I was out to kill Eioneus. I snuck up on him while he was asleep. I murdered him in his sleep. But instead of the nondescript blacksmith's body that I expected, the corpse turned out to be a FUR CLOAK... I fetched the bed just in case, and there, where the corpse should have been, was a fur cloak. When I walked onto it, it teleported me to a screen called 'Map', where the only living thing there is a gaurd under the name of Omen...
The weird thing is that I've had the game for years and never have I come across something like this. And other people have turned into fur cloaks with similar effects including; Lindus, Tros, and many more. However it was only in their sleep. On rare occasions corpses turned into undead(undead graphic to be specific).

The Problem with Emo people is that they say they can play guitar, but really they can't. It gives people who really play guitar a bad name. Like Me. I Hate Emo People >:( ...

That is weird. I don't know what do say! ummm.....
I'm thinking that you should probably update you version unless it is the latest and if it is then just give all of the fur cloaks to all of you members of your party. be happy about what has happened. Also if you are able to talk to the guards with weird names try and if so ask a lot of questions. Maby you can learn a lot.

From what I know, I have the latest version, 1.0.4. And nobody can use the fur cloaks; they're stuck on the ground like beds. A passing thought that I had was that the creators programmed it into the game as an Easter egg to bring you to omen(being that the gaurd is named Omen and his conversation pic looks like omen). The only reason that I'm mildly unhappy is that I won't be able to finish my collection of corpses unless I reload again and again.

What does the auto-map look like, that is, do the cloaks show up as portals, or what does the map of 'map' look like?

The 'map' as it is so named is a jumbled mess of different objects or ground pics. trees in randon places, sometimes complete white another, part of a river here or there with out an end and right next to it there's maybe a mountain top with no mountain. The only way to get out is by directed nexus. It's relativly small and you can't exit the darker parts of it like you would in, for example, odemia.

Hmmmm...I killed a sleeping guard in Pnyx, and he turned into a leather helmet. When I walked on the helmet, it cast Deranged on me, and after running around crazy for a whille, I searched the leather helmet, and it said "Searching reveals a ring". Nothing happened when I walked on the ring, but when I tried to take it, it said "You can't take a stove!" Weirdest of all, I could actually bake bread there as if the ring was a stove. Possibly the fur cloak looked like something, but really wasn't? Or maybe if the game was finished, when you destroy Alaric, following Omen, he would vanish and when you walked on his cloak it teleported you to Omen. MAp might of been a template.

What about the ring/stove, helmet/moss thing? I killed Magpie in his sleep afterwards, and the same thing happened. However, when I reverted, quit, and opened Cythera again, Magpie (and the guard) turned into a red book that was really a standing stone. When I used the crolna on it, a cave appeared out of complete nowhere. Inside the cave was a place called "Omen Map", which was only like 5x5 tiles long or something with a guard named Omen and a man named Pelagon.
