Help
Ok, here's the deal. Get a rope somewhere, usually you steal it, and look around the harpy cave. Make sure you're in the one to the west of the Mining camp. In the cave there will be a big hole, on a certain spot will be an "outcropping", tie the rope to the outcropping and climb down. It should be somewhere around there. You will need the "strange device", if you've gotten it. I may be a little off somewhere in there but that should be it.
Aetheon is a ratcatcher for Cademia, he's somewhere in there.
After playing for a little while I remember that I thought it would be funny to kill everyone who was not important on the entire island. Unfortunately there were some people that I killed and that I needed. So i had to go around and use the few resurrection abitlities of Alaric's amulet to bring them back to life so I could continue. After that I've been very friendly to the inhabitants of Cythera, except those ruffians.

Oh yeah, the best way I killed the Hydra was that I had too many bombs, so I threw one at the Hydra and blew it to smithereens. (Wow, it's amazing that I've been registered for two and a half years and still haven't broke a hundred posts.)

Only one problem. The hole isn't in a cave, It's just sitting outside. But I'll see if I can use rope to get down it.

OMG, OMG! I went over to the LandKing Hall, and all of a sudden, in the throne room, there was Dares from Dares Eatery in the northeast corner! I talked to him and he said the same stuff as he always did. Strange. He didn't tell me what brought him to the LandKing Hall. I guess that it was just a bug.

Yeah, random people showing up in strange places is a bug that happens sometimes. That is sometimes a sign that that particular saved game file has become "corrupted" somehow. Playing with a "corrupted" saved game file will crash the program, and sometimes your whole computer. If you play Cythera in OS X under "Classic" mode, the file gets corrupted when you start the game. So don't run Cythera in Classic mode. For some reason, Cythera absolutely hates OS X. If you play Cythera on a Mac with OS X, reboot your computer in OS 9 before playing.
Sorry if I sound crazy or like I'm repeating myself, but I've had this problem a bunch.

Well, I don't play Cythera in OS X. No need to worry. Dares is just a guy for Dares Eatery. Imagine if someone like Crito was there! Where the hell would I go if I told him room? Would I walk from the LandKing Hall all the way to the hotel that he/she would own in a different specific location?

Interesting, I'll have to check it out this weekend when I go home from college. (Yea!! The semester is finally over!!) You should try checking the magic map you get. If a dot is gray on it you can't walk there, or dark blue. This is very useful for finding pathes through stuff. And you will need the rope in the cave.

I have been doing quite well indeed! Got the Mystic Armor, Gator Boots, and finally conquered the tomb. I was glad to get the belt, but I had a hell of a time getting as many obals as I could. I made sure every container and party member was maxed out, carrying as many coins as they could. I also dropped a lot of item I didn't need, and I still ended up leaveing 200-300 coins. Still, I am much richer now...

Kelp, eh? Well, it is actually a tricky one. But I accidentally found it. LONG before I needed it. But I decided to keep it, I thought maybe it'd come in hand someday. And it did.
In Glaucus vineyard (northern one) click once (look) in one of the wine barrels (those large ones) and a kelp will appear.

I finally finished Cythera. But I don't get the ending, exactly. Could someone please explain to me what, exactly, is going on? Who is this Owen guy? And what's with the Pelagon guy in House Comana?

Make hundreds of healing and mage's friend potions.
(sulfer from land's end and buy obsidion from gem seller in kosh w/money from flax tradde)
Tell timopn to heal you. When he runs out of magic give him a Mage's friend potion...
When he gets low on health give him a healing or two.
PS Ugenquent sucks--bad recovery power so you need alot (why there is multiple doses) and you can't buy it--it's a folk remedy not a shop item.

It's just that I need a LOT off free health so I can use mage friend potions to get the power I need to penatrate all those magic doors.

TIP: To get lots of sulfur (or any other randomly found potion ingredient) go find a patch of it on the map. Now--Walk back and forth so the pink item dots on your magic map go in and out of its border. After 100 or so times it will have generated more than enough sulfer to suit your needs.

P.S. Go to the Macheon's (sp?) Lab under Cademia (near mushrooms) to make potions. It has a distiller, an urn of water, and a bed not 10 steps from eachother!
