How the hell can I get Neoptolemus to teach me? I keep trying and trying to talk with him, I try to talk to him at the right time (thinking there might have been a specific time to talk to him where he could train me), I tried to see if I could give him stuff, don't laugh at this, but I even got some rope and tried to use it on Neoptolemus to tie him up and force him to teach me (HA HA HA HA HA HA HA). I told him his name, and told him that Demodocus told me his name, so I'm past that part. But how can I get him to teach me?

You need to ask him the right series of words. Ask him about "job", then go on from there. When you can't find anymore new words to say, then say "belt".
I hope this helps you. And the skills you get are quite useful.
If you are comeletely stuck, visit Slayer's page. But for now, stay away from it. It will spoil the game.

Good for you. Remember that persuasion will help you talk to those who don't want to talk to you, and haggling (I think) will improve your bargining skills, cause prices to go down in shops, smiths, and inns. Those skills are useful to say the least.

Too bad I couldn't use persuasion to get people to join me! Oh well. Besides Timon, Meleager, Hector and Aethon, who else can join your party?

Dryas and Ariadne can both join you, but only temporarily. (See http://homepage.mac....ytheracrazy.jpg )

Well, there is one space left in there. I KNOW that Ariadne and Dryas can join you until you do something that gets them out of your party, (you know, doing your mission n' stuff) but there was one space left-up to 8 people are allowed in your party. Are you SURE that there isn't one other person that can join you?

Nothing wrong with that, so long as they aren't on the first page. Keeps there something interesting for us to do, as this thread demonstrates.

Just another sign that the game was never finished. Theoretically, maybe there were going to be more people to join you, but they were left out. Or perhaps 8 is just a more even number than 7; 2^3 as apposed to a prime. No other party members have ever been found. But who is to say there aren't some complicated specifics to get some random person or other to join? Good ol' Cythera...

Yeah, people figure out new stuff about the game almost every time they play through it. Even old players. The stuff is generally very subtle, like a box of full of food or weapons that you've never seen before, or you go up and say some really random thing to some random character, and they respond in a way you don't expect. When I play through Cythera now, I intentionally try to do different things and say stuff to characters other than just the stuff that shows as buttons. There are also bugs that you can find and exploit if you do this enough. I think most everything has been found by now, but every once in a while, you run across something new.

Whenever I tell someone ambrosia, they tell me:"food of the gods". Interesting, eh? Sometime i'll try entering an ambrosia software employee in there. I wonder if they'll say anything interesting.

I've given up on the volcano until I get the Gator boots. I'm now trying to get the goodies from the Scylla temple. But those Polyps are pretty tough. Also, I saw a Hydra in there somewhere. Wow, those things are creepy! But I saw on Slayer's site that they can't hurt you. I'm not doubting you, Slayer, but does anyone know for sure that Hydras don't do damage?

I've never seen it. It's the polyps and the Scylla tentacles you have to watch.

What I don't understand is that why the almighty worshipped and loyal (to me) Slayer's spoiler on macclassics.com says that the Hydra is harmless, but when you go into the Scylla temple, he says you will need a ranged attack for the Hydra.

It probably blocks any close ranged attack. And I didn't see it see it blocking any passage, although I didn't look at it for too long because I was too creeped out.

I can see it now:
A Hydra smashes Hector with a bonecrunching sound
A Hydra grinds LifeKnight to dust.

Actually my amulet has long since shattered. But you get the idea.

It is actually quite simple: The hit zone is smaller than the graphic. The graphic is a 9x9 square, while the hit zone is only a 1x1 square in the middle. Because the graphic is large, you are prevented from walking inside it. But because the zit zone is small, you cannot reach it to hit. I think this is a bug more than anything else.

One time, in the chamber where you find the Sword of Heroes or whatever, I managed to get one to walk on top of me. It dies fairly quickly if you hit it with a sword, but if it doesn't walk on top of you, you have no chance of reaching it.

I found that out. I've faced two hydras so far (one in the hall of truth and one in the cove) and the actual creature is at the center. It's just a polyp surrounded by a hydra.

I've spent all day playing, and I've gotten pretty far. I'm now trying to conquer the cove and get the mystic spear and the timeflux boox.
Wow, this game really is twisted. What I was trying to do before, I am now doing the exact opposite. I don't even know where this will lead me next.

That's why we're still fans. Cythera may be buggy and incomplete, but it has one of the most interesting, entertaining, and original plots of any RPG I've seen. When you first start, its like "Brought here from Earth to save weakened king and a dying world, yadda yadda yadda. Seen this before." But once you get into it, you find all of these interesting aspects of the world itself that complicate your quest so much that you end up having to help piece together the bad guy's ultimate weapon in order to win. It is very cool.

I still can't figure out entierly what is going on. I know that the Seldane are my friends and that House Comana is bad. But what about Alaric? And Omen? And what's the Undine Strongholds got to do the whole thing (I just broke my butt in there trying to kill a Lich)?

Just remember that everyone has their own agenda. What you've got to figure out is who's agenda most benefits the land and people of Cythera.

The undine stronghold doesn't have any real bearing on the results of the game. You can ignore it completely and still complete the game. (Another sign that the game was never truly completed.) Of course, if you don't go in there, you don't get the cool stuff that is hiding in there, and you don't get to look at Tavara's journal. It contains helpful information, but isn't vital.

Tavara's journal is in the second (more powerful) stronghold right?

Okay, another question. I'm trying to get the wonderful Mystic Armor from the Harpy cave. I found the cave location on dear old Slayer's site map, but when I enter the location, all I found is a big old hole in the ground! I don't dare kill it with the Fetch Trick, but tell me how I get into the cave!
