I know this is not directly relevant to Cythera, but it is relevant to those who like web-based RPGs, like our Team Stories and Tavern, so I'm hoping you guys will let it slide.
Well anyway, I am wasting my time on the internet, and I ran across a really cool flash program. It's called HeroMachine, and you can make all kinds of cool comic-book style characters with it. You can make all sorts of characters, including some medieval-type stuff. The only drawback is that you can't actually save the character you make to a graphics file, so you have to use a screen capture to grab it. You can download it at HeroMachine.com, or you can simply run it online here. Here's mine:

Does it have an option to show heads-only, if we need small avatar-like pictures for some web-based RPGs?

Though I suppose we could just generate the full picture and then use graphicconverter or something to use only the head.

I don't think it can do just heads. I guess you could just use Snapz Pro X to grab a little pic of a character's head. I had to use that to get my pic, as it doesn't actually make a .jpg - it's just flash. I read on their readme that this is actually the version 2 beta, and that the final version may be able to do actual files. Also, some of the categories are not complete yet. Note: I had absolutely nothing to do with the making of this thing, I just found it and got excited.

Ah, but given a lot of us don't look at just games, I suppose it was useful to post it here. Thanks, Joe.

I believe Pyrus would look like this, but without such a broad face:

This Hero Machine is a really great program, but it's a bit lacking in color, but the Hero Machine 2, according to their site, is supposed to have more colors in addition to better features like feature thumbnails.

Beta v.2 is much better- just shell out $10 and pay for it. I've been with them for a while now.

Otherwise...I RETURN! MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

When you accidentally multi-post, you should edit one of them so that it doesn't say anything. That way, people viewing the page don't have to load it twice. Also, please edit your post to cut down on the number of smilies. One or two "confused" smilies should be enough to share your frustration, and most people feel that more than that is just annoying. The use of multiple smilies also makes page-loads take a very long time for people with slow connections.

Now, to respond to your frustration: I have no idea what you're doing wrong, as I'm not entirely sure what you are describing. But the file is a Flash program, which means that it will run in your internet browser when you run it from the html file they include. Double-click the file named heromachine.html, or run it online here. If you click the link, it's strictly online, but you can still take a screenshot of the character you make. Even when you download the program, there's no option to save the picture - a screenshot is the only way to do it. The only reason you should bother to download it is if you have trouble loading it online.
