Does Cythera have an irc channel set up? And if so, is anyone ever on it? I can't imagine that irc.ambrosia.com wouldn't have a #cythera when there's all those other channels. It would be nice to talk to the people here in real time rather than waiting for them to post in the webboard.

Yes, there most definately is a #cythera on irc.ambrosia.net. And yes, you're bound to find most of us on there at some point (not all! Slayer's been a bit busy to drop by, and you need AIM to catch Bryce). Though, like with many of the channels, the discussion usually isn't exactly about the game Cythera itself. I bet Odysseus has memorized the original topic describing this by now (I haven't yet) that Talos made for getting onto #cythera, as soon as he gets on he can link to it, and perhaps help you get started/introduced to the #cythera realm.

#cythera is fun! Mind you, it is also dangerous, but fun!

I was there today. But (in case you were wondering about my suddenly leaving without so much as a nod) ircle kicked me off because I was unregistered and wouldn't let me reconnect to irc.ambrosiasw.net because I had deleted my preferences in the hope that it would forget I hadn't registered. I could mess around with ircle and get reconnected, but I would rather just use something that's free. Any suggestions for a free irc client?

You just have to re-set everything...
As for free clients, there's ShadowIRC..and there's Athena, which I believe is shareware but doesn't kick you off.

Perhaps because its irc.ambrosia.net - there's no 'sw' in the irc server. See if that fixes things.

I've made that mistake before.

ShadowIRC is very excellent-- get that if you have Classic. AthenaIRC is okay, only get that one if you have to use OS X. But remember, ircle is feature-filled, but extremely annoying about registering. Athena is kinda buggy. If you have the knowhow, you should get a UNIX IRC client if you use OS X.

Or, instead of a Unix client, try a Unix client port to OS X like I have. Just search on VersionTracker under "X Chat" a freeware IRC client that's free, small, OS X native and easy!

bellerophen, don't ask questions in topics that have nothing to do with it. Nor do you have to ask the same question three times or post a new topic each time you have a new question. Instead, you could title one topic "Questions about Cythera" or something of the sort and put all your questions in that.
