I worked on it enough, got it all touched up and finallized, and now a (semi-decent) version of it is posted.

The #cythera website. Get to it here. Post suggestions, comments, mean responses to my crude HTML here. Thanks.

Don't worry, gwdy isn't here anymore.
But i do dislike intro pages where i have to click something to enter.
Other than that it seemed ok.

Well, if fizzy made it automatically forward to the next page after a short bit, say 5-10 seconds (depends on how long it takes people to read it) as well as the link, for people wanting to skip the wait. Or you could just go to index2.html and bypass the main intro alltogether.

I'm naturally prejudiced against any site that changes the width of links with a:hover, but otherwise, fine. A little sparse, but that's the case with any new site.

And here -
<body onLoad ="var t = setTimeout('window.location = 'index2.html';',5000)">
Adjust that last number to 1000 times however many seconds you want.

Nice site, and I must admit, you have convinced me to come to #cythera for the second (and hopefully better) time. It seems to me that Bryce is very right about Lord Gwydion. (sp?)

#cythera is an IRC channel on irc.ambrosia.net, yes.

Xela did, I haven't seen Pippin though.

If you haven't and want to give it a shot, Ody found the old "how to get on #cythera" topic Talos created. The link can easily be dug up.

Or for people who don't want to bother looking at the old topic, here's how to get on:

Complete Idiots Guide on How to get on and use IRC, step by step

1. Get an IRC client: an IRC client is a program that lets you connect to IRC channels and talk with the people in them. A good, easy to use shareware client is ircle. Go to the site, click on 'download', and download it (in english, macbinary or binhex is fine).

2. Set up an IRC client: After you've finished downloading and decompressing ircle, double click on the 'Ircle 3.04' (or something like that) icon. Now, click on or open the 'connections' window (open by window->connections). Double click on the first thing in the list. Now, set its settings to:

Server: Click on the 'Select...' button. Then click 'Add...'. In server name, type in ' irc.ambrosia.net ' (no quotations). Leave port set to 6667. Finally, click on the network pop-up menu, scroll down to the bottom, and select '€none'.
Nickname: your preferred name, less than 9 characters
Username: your preferred name, of any length
Real Name: some other name. It can be seen by other users by a /whois, so don't put in your real name unless you want people to see it.

To save your changes, press the 'OK' button. Also, go to 'File->Save preferences' so that you won't lose the settings you just made if the program crashes.

3. Connect to #cythera: If it's not selected, reselect the first connection, the one you changed, in the Connections window. Then, click on the 'connect' button at the bottom of the window. The icon to the left of the connection should flash a few times, until it turns into a blue and a red arrow, in opposite directions. This means you're connected.

If it's not open, open the 'inputline' window ('Windows->inputline'). This is how you communicate with the channel. To join a channel, type in: " /join #whatever " (no quotations), and whatever being the channel you want to join. So, to join #cythera, type:

/join #cythera

. If you did everything right, you should join #cythera! Hopefully there will be some other people there to show you around IRC. If you have any problems, just post a reply right here and I'll see if I can help. Good luck!

Hm... very nice, ferazel. I don't know if #cythera really has enough history to have its own site yet, but whatever.

One small correction: on the about page, I didn't really 'create' #cythera. A more accurate way of saying it was that Avatara and Gluebubble/Kestrel got Grybs to hold #cythera with Sway, and used it from time to time. All I did was get the channel open to the public by posting that little bit a while ago (which was -horribly- ridden with mistakes originally, as you can tell if you read that old thread.)

Man, it's hard to believe that the chan is that old... *sniffle*

I'll think about adding the forwarding. (I'm rather busy) I didn't actually ''leave'' the webboards, I just haven't posted in a while. People that log in and frequent #cythera get their names on the list. (frequent meaning come quite often) If someone comes in and comes back every so often for, say, four months, they'll get their name added. Except the people who irridate n00bishness. (iFire)
