You could hold down the arrow keys. If that's still too slow, you'll need to get a faster computer.
Still too slow. I'm running a G4, so comp isn't a prob.

In all seriousness though, I thought Cythera had a speed setting somewhere... or maybe that was the old EV...

EV.
I don't see anything wrong with the walking speeds in Cythera, but if you still think it's too slow, there are a few shortcuts (Directed Nexus and the Seldane cave's teleporters).

It always seemed fast enough to me, and I was running it on a 100MHz 603e. Mind you, I had to turn off all the whizzy extras, like music and the moving scenery.
Thats probably it. I turned on all the extras, I"ll turn them off and see if it helps.

You shouldn't refer to Mr. Somebody as a low-life loser just becuase he discovered the trap in your sig. It really isn't nice, and is rather uncalled for. At any rate, did you have to mention him by name?
In all seriousness though, I thought Cythera had a speed setting somewhere... or maybe that was the old EV...
It was old EV and EVO.
I wasn't referring to Mr. Somebody. And I changed it again.

I knew perfectly well you wern't. It was a joke. (Since you used the word 'somebody' and that is the name of a member here...
You are with the ATMC in the hideout, right? Hmm, they don't enforce their smacklist very well... what kind of ship do you have?

(and take it away from these boards)
yomcat: are you running Cythera under OS X or after starting up in OS 9? If you play in Classic under X, it'll slow down the game quite a bit. But even with the sound/music on in OS 9, a beige G3 (one of those old things) runs at a fast speed.

...except it's down. Besides, you don't exactly have an impartial opinion; the Unset has a clear majority on the Cythera boards, so if any of *us* wanted to settle a debate that way...

I wasn't aware that it *could* be run in OS X, provided you didn't want disappearing cities and corrupted save game files and the like. On my classic iMac, I think I got between 2 and 3 tiles per second, which certainly seemed fast enough.
On the Cytheran large map's scale, that would translate to around 400'/minute, which is approximately 4.5 MPH. I believe that to be a perfectly acceptable walking speed overall, especially considering how long you can keep it up
Come to think of it, I never had the music on, since I was playing from a CD (first Beethoven's first and seventh, later Mission 2002). If you're getting significantly slower speeds, that's most likely the culprit.

I'm in a explorer in the Hideout. So leave me alone
I'm running it in OS 9 on a G3 350/G4 466. No OS X involved. The guy moves slow.
It must just be me. I'm used to flying fighters (Defender, Azdara etc.) in the EV series.

The menu enabled in the patch I made allows you to speed up or slow down the game and lets you speed up or slow down the "frame rate". If you feel you walking to slow, you should be able to speed it up like that.
Where can this patch be found?
