wohoo, 1st time post for these boards for me !! wooo!!
The way i stumbled onto this bug was that i wanted to buy the house in cademia that is for sale, but i hadn't bought the registration code off of ambrosia yet, and in the unregistered version ou can only have 3 party members. i needed 10,000 oboli but the chars could only carry something like 600 each max.
i noticed that one of the only reliable ways that you could really make money in the game was with the flax farm, buying flax and then selling it in odemia, but once you reached your encumberence level the oboli would drop on the ground around you. i tried all sorts of things, mucking round with chests etc but i couldn't find a reliable way to store my money. That's when i remembered that i'd been mucking round with putting a sack inside a sack, a sack can take 80 obols worth of weight, but you can put a sack inside that sack, put a sack inside that sack etc and fill every sack and they'd still only weigh 80 obols. Remembering that you can buy sacks from pynx i rushed off there and tried buying 100 sacks, expecting them to drop on the ground, but they didn't, they just filled up my inventory! I din't even have to put a sack inside a sack.
to make a long story short:
1-go to pynx, to the supply shop and buy as many sacks as you can, the more the better
2-now go to the flax farm (south of the farm house where ardenia was kidnapped to)
3- buy as much flax as you can (when purchasing items it doesn't seem to notice your encumberence, so you can buy as much as you have obol for)
4- go to odemia and sell all the flax
5- money will drop on the ground all around you
6-open a sack and put 80 obols in, open another sack, put 80 obols in...
7-repeat steps 2-6 as many times as necessary, you will only make 3 obol each bail of flax, but when you are carrying 20,000 bails of flax the profeits are quite remarkable (i know, you go insane opening and closing all those sacks)

there is a better way to do, but I can't remember it. Look at Slayer's guide.

There are better containers than sacks, as you can see here. In fact, you only need one container to carry everything you want. When I first figured that out, I began with the sacks, too.

You could use a corpse as a container, I believe. Be different.

Do you mean three party members besides the hero? Don't forget about Dryas and Ariadne (but Ariadne isn't very useful when you are selling flax ).
