I need to know what year we're in (roughly), in the team stories... has that ever been mentioned? And in what year does the game take place? This is important for a chronicle I'm currently working on.

Good question, but I have absolutely no idea! Oh, and this is an opportunity for my date related question- What does "Will to Union- 792" or something like that mean? It's on a lot of rings in the game.

I have no clue. As I recall, the game suggests that the original settlers arrived from ancient Greece, probably around 1000 BC or thereabouts? Someone refresh my memory, wasn't there something about the impending destruction of Thera?

Anyway, the length of the period between their arrival and the time of the game isn't certain either. There are about 600 years accounted for with the age of the Tyrants and Alaric's reign, but the amount of time that precedes the rise of the Tyrants is unknown. The hero seems to have been called from some time in the 20th/early 21st centuries, which could be taken as a clue to the game's setting - unless there was some time travel involved, as well as spatial/dimensional displacement.

I suppose the dates on the tombstones would be your best clue, but I don't remember what they use as a point of reference. If it was the time of the first arrival, then there's your answer. Just find out the actual year of the disaster they were fleeing, and adjust for the dates from the tombstones.

Alaric's mother died in 201. Also, if you talk to Alaric, then he says that "the year 201 seems important for some reason." Conceivably, that could be the year that he overthrew the Third Tyrant.

Timeflow in our world might not correspond to timeflow in Cythera, so that's not a useful clue. Cythera's extremes (the four pillars) are more extreme than elsewhere; a rapid change in balance in Cythera would correspond to a slower change in other worlds. This would make sense - if time is a variable, it's possible to assume that balance is mirrored in the same way throughout the universes.

Don't worry, that doesn't make much sense to me either.

Well, if you talk further to Alaric, you can get him to remember when his mother died. He doesn't until you discuss it with him.

Rogan, did you mean "year" as in "real life time" or simply "game time"? In terms of game time, your best reference imo is that early TS (don't remember name) when some one was evil, Talos I think. The one where Jack Frost died. It gives a reference to Alaric and the relationship between the game and that TS. Personally, I took TS time as about 10-15 years after game time.

Oh, and time is a variable, and anything is possible to assume, but I wouldn't draw the conclusion of ripple effects through worlds to any great extent (if I understand what you mean by "balance" and "mirror").

I believe that story was called "Once Again".
With year, I meant "game time", roughly in what year the current TS'es take place (like the tavern). At least the first part of my chron is going to be a series of diary entries and so, I have to know what year it is.

Thanks for the tips Posted Image

>Hi everyone. I haven't been able to post very much because of school and such, but I decided to visit. Although I can't really answer your question Rogan, I hope this helps.

The years in Cythera were measured since their arrival. The only reference of time to the period during which they lived on the island Thera I could find was "Pre-Cytheric Times".

I believe they marked the year of their arrival on Cythera as 0 A.T. and Cademia was founded on their fifth year, 5 A.T. This was also the time that one of the priests was made the First Tyrant who had absolute power. This first tyrant seems to have been a benevolent and just ruler.

The first tyrant died in 79 A.T. and was replaced by the Second Tyrant who ruled from 79 A.T. to 160 A.T. This Tyrant was much more ruthless and paranoid. Important things to note during this time frame was the Exile of the Mages and the Foundingof Pnyx.

It was during the period of the Third and final tyrant(160-216 A.T.) that the city of Abydos was mysteriously destroyed. Also, the Cult of Scylla rose and was destroyed during this time.

Alaric made his appearance in 216 A.T. and killed the tyrant. In the year 219 A.T, Alaric brings back the mages and the current system of government is created. Later in 303 A.T. Kosha is founded.

The game seems to take place around or after the year 901 A.T., but probably not before..

I hope that provides some reference points for you to use. I really can't remember any of the TSes I've been in and don't know any of the recent ones so I can't really give you specific information that I know would help you.
I do have some more specifics that I could give you if you would like to know more.

ps. I'm writing this at about 6 AM after staying up all night, so there may be some grammatical/logical errors, but the information should be correct.
