I don't think that there's anyplace to find diamonds in the wild, but you can replicate them as described in the second link of the previous post.

You don't. You can find a lot of things lying around in caves, such as sulphur and obsidian, and plants grow wild in certain places. Most things regenerate if you leave an area for a long enough time.
