Ambrosia Software Web Board: Irc help? - Ambrosia Software Web Board

I haven't ever been on #cythera, but I don't have a client. Does anyone know a client that works with Classic and is free? Thanks, Mr. S

smIRCle is another possibility. [url="http://"http://www.smircle.de"]http://www.smircle.de[/url] I've tried both that and ShadowIRC, and both gave me problems - but to be fair, I haven't heard of anyone else having the same trouble. In the end, I registered IRCle - $15US isn't that big a price.

There's also [url="http://"http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/6241"]Athena IRC.[/url] The link will take you to the Download page. It's free unless you want to use it's "Special Features," (Mini Connections, etc.).

Otherwise, it should be fine.

How do you install ShadowIRC, exactly? I'm hopeless!

I suggest you use ircle, a really simple to use IRC client. You can download it at [url="http://"http://www.ircle.com"]www.ircle.com[/url]

Unless you plan on registering it, ircle is not a good client to use. I use athena, even though it is slightly buggy.

To get to #cythera you need to select one of your connections in the connection menu, and click "edit." Enter in a desired nickname and hostname (they can be the same if you want). ShadowIRC does not have a manual, nor technical support, and the interface is hard to use if you are new to IRC. As for Athena...its horrendously buggy.
