I never said it wasn't; the spam started with Bryce, who should have known better.

The Character Info topic is a thread that was set up for a specific purpose, and not for idle banter. It's there to help us keep track of each other's story characters, and help us write other people's characters as much like the author intended as possible.

If you want to comment on something in that thread, you can make a new topic (like this one.)

Sorry! It was just a comment, I figured it woulnd't matter since the topic needed to be de-spamed anyway from the accumulated update notices that weren't deleated.
I didn't want to start a a new thread or somthing as trivial as pet lizards. In retrospect, I should have just e-mailed him.

ANyway, I'm sorry, but aren't you maybe overreacting a little?

I'd have to agree with cache on this one. Character info should be just for character information and not for other comments However, your right, the topic has gotten over spammed or as I like to say, spammifed. I think its time for a mod the clean out the topic. Slayer, Avatara?

While the character info topic should remain relatively off-limits to conversations, I don't really see a problem with making a few comments about other peoples' characters. Those comments do, after all, get cleared out when I go through with my SpamVac®.

Except comments spawn replies, which spawn more replies, and hence a conversation is born. Not all the time, I grant you, but it does seem to be the predominant way of things on a webboard; and what was going on in there this time, I would already call a 'conversation'.

You've got a good point, cache. Still, I wouldn't call two messages a conversation, it was just a comment and a breif response to the comment.

I don't obsess over deleting messages, but it happens about once a month.

Just out off curiosity, does deleting messages affect post count? The thought of having 0 posts to your name and yet a 100 post count amuses me...

Who had no posts and a 100 post count? OR was this just hypothetical?
Oh, and I doubt it does, but a mod could deleate a post and find out...
It would be interesting to find out.

I find this topic very ironic.

Slayer, your SpamVac must be inoperateable, you don't use it that often. Posted Image

When a post is deleted, the number of posts in the topic and the number of posts for that webboard are adjusted to reflect that. (Same thing for topics-except they vanish entirely, mostly, from the forum list) However, deleting a post/topic does not affect your post count.

But posting 100 times, and bribing someone to delete those posts usually results in the karma count being changed, to reflect the negative side of the number line. Posted Image
