You might be wondering why I'm posting this. Well, I'm collecting data for the said project. Please, I need results for this.

To do it, go to [url="http://"http://callie.kicks-ass.net/~ferazel/response"]http://callie.kicks-...erazel/response[/url]
There, get the Classic, Carbon, or Windows version of the app, depending on what you're running. Follow the instructions in the program, and you'll appear in the final results. E-mail this to your friends and family as well, 'cause I need that data. Thanks!

On second thought, no, I won't. The REAL'basic' program crashed my machine. It's probobly not you fault, Ferazel, it's just RB. Try METAL Basic, it is free and I have programed a reflex tester with it with considerable sucsess.

I realize RB has some strong fetures, like exelent interface design, but the lackings outweigh the advantages. Of course, that's just my opinion.

It's the bloody server's fault. It was down for a bit, and now it's back up, so please try again. [edit]I'd switch, but it's hard for me. I used REALBasic since public beta #4[/edit] [edit #2]Also, I doubt that your reflex tester sent its data to a server to be collected.[/edit]

Correct, It didn't do that. It did, however, measure the time very percisely.
Myself, some freinds of mine, my mom, and my freinds mom were tested on the reflex tester.
I won the contest, but it may of had somthing to do with the fact that I practiced alot in connection with writing the program. Posted Image
One thing it didn't do was discard anomlies, like the highest two and lowest two times. In retrospect, this would have been a nice feture.

Also, Ferazel, you might want to consider using a audio signal other than the system beep, people become so desensitized to it they could easly forget what it means.

Well, sorry. Try it again, please. The problem with using sounds is I couldn't find any and I needed to get it out the door that day. I've gotten some people to do it, but if your firewall blocks port 3747, you can't send any data. Our school uses a proxy server, so I can't send any data from there. And to other people reading this topic, please try this as well!

You're reflex tester failed again, same error. I am not behind a firewall.
My reseults were (I don't remember the after-decimal point stuff)
Test #1:
Sounds - 169 miliseconds (May have been 168, not sure, so I rounded up.)
Graphics - 302 miliseconds
Test #2
Sounds - 158.3 miliseconds
Graphics - 364.1 miliseconds (Note - Contained an anomily, 658 miliseconds, caused by accedent. A more avarage time was 225 to 280, there were several sub 200 results and a few 300 and one 400. There was also a few 210-201 results, As well. On my own tester, I scored about 220-250 miliseconds for graphics*, leading me to suspect slow realbasic as the root cause. Anyway, just use the first results if you want.)

* Not unusual, other people had similar marks on the test.

I found the problem -- 102 is can't open connection. This error has only occurred when the server was doing its once-per-fifteen-minute-rehash. Unfortunatly, you were caught right when it was rehashing. Bad luck, it happened both times. The reason for this is that some people telnetted in very quickly, causing the sockets to go nuts. Every fifteen minutes, it closes all socket connections and reopens them.
