I don't want the Character Info thread to get spammed out like the Custom Items thread, so I'm making this reply in a new topic.

Uh, cache, I your 'Ronin' posts on here need updating.

I've updated pretty much all of my characters' entries just over a week ago, Bryce. I left the 'Ronin' reference for historical interest, and the amnesia bit is still true - although rapidly diminishing. Basically, anything in the Ronin's past that I haven't written about yet, they don't remember. Posted Image

Avatara's 'update alert' post, just ahead of Bryce's, is surprisingly parallel to something I've been thinking about for a while. If someone makes a major change or update to their character's data, I think it would be a good idea if they posted a new note in the topic to let people know. Then, if they don't mind, one of the mods could delete any previous such 'notifications' that are past a certain age, so there'll only be a small number in the topic at any one time (I'd hate it to get spammed out!)

Alternatively, we could just post a new topic telling everyone to go read; but that wouldn't bring the Character Info topic back to the top.

All good points, cache.
Could a mod also de-spamify the Custom Item thread?
We had a good laugh with it's spam, but that spam is stale and unwanted now.

Also, many char-infos exist for unused or absurd charicters -
three hundred pound birds with 'lasor eyes'!

I don't think we really need them, do we?

Oh, well. it's up to you, mods.

A lot of those old items of character data should be left, for the same reason I left the 'Ronin' reference in Flynn's data: historical interest. While not currently active, many of those characters were used in older stories, and it's still nice to be able to go back and read up on them a bit.

On the other hand, there are a lot of duplicate entries that serve no real purpose (are you reading this, Tycho? Posted Image) It would be nice if someone could get rid of all the obsolete versions.

I'm not talking about the old ones as much as the ones which were never used, absurd ones like the one mentioned above, and where n00bies posted the info on their charicters on the game, misunderstanding the point of the thread.

Absurd as it may be, Grapper did actually use Condor (I assume that's what you're referring to) on at least one occasion, so I think it should stay. Its data is duplicated, though, so at least the individual post about it could be removed. Posted Image

Of course, you haven't been around more than a few months longer than me...
Have you been reading the old TSes?
Maybe I ought to do that sometime - it might prove enlightning.

As you guessed, my post in the Character Info served a dual purpose: I updated almost all my characters (save Lemenath-he'll come later and the dark elves - which you won't hear from for some time yet). Also, I did want to keep the topic somewhere on the first page, for easier reference. And yes, partly because I forgot who Garendor was. Posted Image

And yes, I was thinking the same thing cache. I'd delete the old "updated" posts once someone else posts something, and if they don't someone should "bump" the thread to the top about once a month.

But what about de-spaming the item info thread?
Thanks,
Bryce

I...didn't know that thread existed.
